Is it possible to rebuild an engine without taking it out of the car? I need to do a ring job, and to remove the engine, it has to come out the bottom. I don't have a lift or know anyone who does.

I am aware that it would be impossible to replace the crankshaft bearings, but it should be relatively easy to leave the block in place and push out the pistons and reinsert them with new rings and new con bearings.

Remove the head then remove the oil pan so you can get to the rod caps down on the crank and the pistons will come out..

>boring and checking main bearings
You can do both of those things without removing the engine.

Of course it is, for the mosf part. Head, rings, rod bearings etc.
all that is possible.
Only crankshaft would be a bit pointless.
So just pull the head, drop the pan, undo the big ends, pop your pistons out, new seals, inspect what you can get to while youre alresdy at it but dont fall for the idea that a newer part was always the better part, pop em back in and reverse order everything. Done.
Gay ass motorhomo.

You don't have to remove the crank to remove the pistons.

called doing an inframe and is sop on trucks (not pickups). you can plastigage and roll in a new set of mains if nothings gouged
not worth the assache in a little car though. find a local meth head and have him help you lift it out so you can work standing up like a white man
