Posted this in /an/, but posting it here too. I have a literal toadstool which I think is Trametes lactinea growing on the outside of my concrete block foundation somehow. How is it doing this? I don't think there's any buried wood or anything near the house. I'm getting some sulfur for acid-loving plants and plan on using it to get rid of it because it's smothering plants next to the house, but what the fuck is causing this?

Image not mine.

what's on the other side of the wall? is it your cumsock? cause that'll do it.

I hadn't considered what's on the other side. Maybe some nutrients are seeping through the wall? That seems weird to me, but I suppose it's possible. The fungus is right at soil level though.

I'm not a shroom knower but I would say it's feeding on something below ground and decided your concrete was a good place to go up and fruits

How did you figure there is nothing it can eat? It will happily feed of starches, mulch from potting soil, sugar/food scraps etc if the other conditions are right. Also how big is it that it ‘smothers’ your plants? Mushrooms are friends it makes little sense to remove them.

> muh joists
If mushrooms start to feed off floor joists then those joists were due for replacement years ago

I mean there could be some dead roots or branches in the soil, but i don't think so, I've dug there myself to plant the plants that are against the wall. I've just never seen a bracket fungus grow on concrete before. It's very odd. And smothers the plants because they're young and it literally is growing so fast it ENGULFS them unless I keep removing it like weekly.

>literal toadstool
Toadstools refer specifically to agaricoid mushrooms or even more specifically to Amanita muscaria

There's buried wood/lumber (not roots) that it's growing on near or behind the concrete, there is no other explanation.
