Good hot air rework stations?
I need to replace an HDMI port and I think i'm gonna need that. Around the $75 range preferably.

recently bought an Atten clone. Silverflo 8586D III Pro it says. Was 30 eurobux. Im very happy and positively surprised. The box is basically empty but it works. The iron is the usual ceramic heater kind of jobby. The air is good. Idk really cant complain it dies what it should and 30 bux is a steal IMO. The only thing is: If you buy spare tips dont get the cheapest. They will feel suspiciously lightweight and neither conduct heat nor have any thermal mass. Absolute rubbish if you buy the cheapest.

Only seeing it on websites like ali express or temu, never bought tools from there, is that where you got it? Heard stuff on there can be pretty hit or miss.

I've heard they're all crap that range
cheapest chinese junk I've heard ok things about is the aoyue stuff which seems to work good enough, I picked it up at micro center recently and have used it a few times for qfn parts
heard bad things about its iron though but it's still better than the harbor freight one in my experience

This one looks decent. Its look better than the 858D that I bought.

I only did a few tests with the 858D. It worked for a couple test solderings but I use it very sparingly and l dont leave it plugged in for extended lengths of time.

So these ones which use a blower pump sending air through a tube are supposed to be better than the type which jist blow air with small electric motor housed within the handle. The cost reflects the quality of the tool.

I got it off ebay as I refuse to deal. with ali, amazon and the likes.
I prefer mfg webaite but ebay worked fine.
Bad experience with both, amazon and ali. Never used the later chink sites.

Ebay, ali express etc.. All the same stuff.
A lot of times when youre buying on ebay youre still dealing with an ali express seller.

I've ordered tons off ali express and have never been burned. Though rare, ive had one or two steeply underpriced item never ship. customer service then just refunds it the full amount. Its easy to avoid. The tarrfis has messed up the cost of the electronics but its not too bad. Its probably still the cheapest way to buy many things.

No it is literally not the same. Of course the seller is the same but you do realise that not only I even specifically said I prefer to buy fron the seller / mfg directly and only when that is not an option I will go through an intermediary / platform like ebay but not amazon or ali and so on?
>I've ordered tons off ali express and have never been burned.
Well I too have ordered tons of aliexpress and alibaba, both as a consumer and business and bave been burned and now refuse to deal through them. Amazon as a consumer, burned, refuse to deal with them. Paypal as a consumer, guess what, that protection they say they offer doesnt exist, had to go through the courts directly and got my 3 bux back when paypal said they don't see a reason. Aka they set the bar lower than the law so the 'protection' they advertise is worthless. As a result I again refuse to deal with them.
Ebay itself (without paypal) good so far.
>cheapest way to buy many things
Probably true. But I have betger things to do than acrobatic money saving.
And while perhaps thanks to promotions it's not always cheapest but still close, buying of the ching chong mfg directly at least ensures the money goes tk the ricenigger that actually out the work in.

i had a $100 "quick" brand hot air system. worked well but it took up too much space on my desk, so i sold it and bought a yihua 8858IV for $30. no complaints.
