How to fix? This is the plug for a vacuum cleaner.
Anonymous No.2941741 >>2942160
As long as there's no exposed wire, just wrap it with some electrical tape.

There are other things I have learned by now. This isn’t one of them. Hence why I asked.

you get a newnplug head and watch a video on cutting and crimping
Anonymous No.2941756 >>2941875
1. Cut it off completely with sharp pliers or utility shears
2. Buy new plug
3. Fit new plug

your wires aren't exposed, so just wrap it with electric tape. this isn't the time to be replacing that plug.

What the fabric cord looking thing inside the plug?
Anonymous No.2941837
>>2941832
It's there to rip the jacket if need be and to fill out the cord to make it round

This. It's not hard. Just make sure you know which is the ground and which is the hot wire. Watching a YouTube vid on this in advance will help you out. Pay attention to the colors of the wires inside the cord and any screws inside the plug head. Match them up accordingly. It will take you about 10 minutes due to having to peel back the wires and screw them into the appropriate screw in the replacement plug head unit.

Make sure you DON'T buy a 3 prong cord head replacement for your cord though (positive, negative and ground). FYI, should you ever need to change out a 3 prong plug head, as mentioned the colors of the screws inside the replacement plug head matter. Black Wire = Brass Screw and the White Wire = Silver Screw Green Wire = Green Screw.

Watch videos on YouTube, they'll teach you everything you need to know.

To protect the wires from getting knocked and it's probably shorter tan the wires so if you pull really hard on the cord that goes taught before the wires have a chance to. Same thing you'll see on some hanging powerlines but those have a braided steel cable.

Chop it off and connect a new plug. What's so difficult?

OP, use electrical tape wrapped very tightly. Then get a zip tie and wrap the end of the electrical tape so it doesn't undo itself

>zip tie
Terrible suggestion. Use self vulcanizing rubber tape instead.

At this point its probably quicker to just replace the fucking plug, safer too.

I don't know what that is or where I'd get that. I do have zip ties and have used them just fine in this way.

not silicone self sealing tape?

the same place you'd get a replacement plug. you really are stupid.

have you been to /diy/?

There is no ground on this cord, I assume you're referring to the neutral which is a current carrying conductor as opposed to a ground which should not carry current in normal operation.

OP, the white goes to the bigger prong on your replacement plug but it's AC so it most likely doesn't matter.

if you have another vacuum cleaner you can cut the plug off of it leaving approx 6" of wire then cut the damaged plug off the other vacuum and connect the wires together
