Bullshit appliances
My washer from the 90's failed and I dropped the timer (most expensive) while dissambling and figuring it out, causing it to break. Found another washer for free, works, better than nothing. But the amount of bullshit involved with it...
>No ability to set water level
>Put it on "deep water wash" but it still only fills half full
>Auto sensing
>Stops filling when you open the lid
>Won't spin at all with the lid open
What the fuck is this shit? I know how dirty it is, I know how much soap I put in, I know what I want. I set it to deep water wash, so fucking do it. Fill all the way goddamn it. It fills to half. Half. I said full, you stupid fuck. Occasionally end up filling it manually with a bucket.

Is this really how bad it's gotten? My old one had a dial. If you set it to full, it filled to full. Period. Very straightforward. You pull on the dial, it starts working. There was no start button. There was no auto sensing. It didn't do any of this shit. What the fuck is wrong with this world. I have no control over this thing and have to fight with it to have it doing what it needs to.

Oh, AND. The central pillar has no corkscrew thing on it. So shit gets wrapped all over it constantly.

Why not just buy a replacement dial?

Some retards chose to live in a literal desert and were surprised when there wasn't enough water for 20M people and a shit ton of industry so they decided to write regulations to fuck over everyone else.

They're quite expensive. I looked up the part number for the timer / controller (what the dial connects to). I hope I can find one somewhere though. The other one broke open and tiny plastic gears went everywhere. It's vaguely possible I could repair it.

You could use a Raspberry Pico or Tarduino and some relays to replace the mechanical timer/switch.

Are you poor? Go buy a new HE machine. Get a front loader. The top loader HE machines are bullshit.

Go to an actual appliance store (not home depot) and buy a commercial speed queen or laundry mat washer. Commercial units don't have bullshit requirements.

Dude. The Home depot/lowes machine is fine. No homeowner needs an industrial washing machine unless its an ultra breeder Mexican family with 15 children.

can you elaborate on this

nowadays you have to buy commercial quality or else your shit breaks in 3 years.

I donโ€™t want chinese knowing about my laundry habits

Not the OP but I can. My dishwasher has this timer and these little contacts that get connected when the timer spins through itโ€™s cycle.
If I just get some little relays and microcontroller, I can connect them manually.

When I got my dishwasher, it didnโ€™t really work, the first thing it would do is rinse out the soap in a short 1 min cycle!! Itโ€™s a scam.
Now, I set the dial to the middle somewhere (unmarked) and turn it on. It fills with a tiny bit of water. Then, I open the door, turn back the dial and re-do to get enough water. It heats and runs for 30 minutes with fill soap I put in.
Then, I stop it before the drain, turn it back to that original cycle, and let it run through again.
Then just let it continue to the end.

I can automate all that myself and then it works for me instead of me working for it.

I remember the day that I bought my first new washing machine. I did a load of laundry. I sat in front of it and watched it run through the entire cycle like an autistic retard.

It is only natural. What, are you just going to not know?
