Dog (rescue mutt) has gotten into a porcupine 3 times already this year, and while I'm usually able to get the ones in the head, I usually have to bring the retard to the vet for the mouth ones.
Wondering if anyone has a dosage rate for ketamine (if that will even work?) or any other suggestions on how I can get him slowed down or knocked out so I can do it myself?
Getting to the point where I'm think about just shooting him, and the kids wouldn't like that.

It's ~5mg per lb of dog intramuscular, mix it with saline since you're clearly buying a gram off your guy and not sitting on a bottle of Ketaset. It's not normally used by itself for sedation. I hope you know how to do an injection. Gabapentin is effective in relaxing dogs, but I've seen dogs undergoing trauma who just become more upset and intoxicated if it isn't administered in a pleasant manner. Diphenhydramine can be used orally to make a dog sleepy, I'm sure it's easier to get dogs to eat a pill than a cat. Hell, you can give a dog xanax or whatever other benzo your trailer trash peers have lying around.

You can't just pick up a 'simple sedative' for a dog to knock them out because of retards like you who can't even look up 'ketamine dose dog sedation' and bark like a shitbull at anyone making an innocent suggestion. Someone like you armed with a bottle of xylazine is as likely to kill their dog as to sedate it.

The only thing I've heard about is melatonin. But it's not a sedative. More like something to ease you into sleep. Look up the dosage. I thing 1 or 2mg is used by humans to help fall asleep.

Never mind your question. Anyone who needs to ask something like that has no business even attempting to do it. If you own a dog then it's your responsibility to protect them from their own animal stupidity - if your dog gets attacked by a porcupine not once, but three times in ten months, you are a negligent owner and should turn any and all pets you have over to someone more competent. The same applies if you're too poor, lazy, or miserly to take a dog (that your negligence has injured) to the vet for proper treatment. I feel extremely sorry for your kids and I hope they rise above their awful upbringing and become better men than you are.
