Built A Batchelor Pad For Tyrone
modus operandi: Ø currency invested, only reclaim & scrap from paying jobs used.

120cm x 90cm x 90cm

started at 9:30 this morning, finished at 14:30. It has an interesting assortment of materials. the two south posts were oak. I have no idea what they came from. the two north posts are cut from a single, broken, pressure treated post that was given to us by a Polish lady we sometimes trade with. the roof was framed in with one oak 1x4, two fir 2x4's and two fir 1x4's I only had to cut one of the 2x4's, the broken post, and the roof decking/FRP. everything else was oddly already a suitable length. the roof decking is 6.25mm plywood leftover from a window replacement job post-hailstorm. the white FRP is from a low-income housing bathroom remodel. the walls are from more temporary hailstorm window covers. all fasteners were leftover from a previous steel roof install and woodscrews were a combination of reclaim from salvage wood from the Polish lady, and some that were leftover from a framing job. 5 hours with a 30 min lunch break.

Tyrone is happy. he didn't even wait for me to finish the walls before he moved in. he's been living in full element exposure for the last 4 weeks since we removed him from the ewe pen. we will re-introduce him to his selected ewes for breeding on November 1st.

none of that looks like oak to me but I have been wrong before and I will be wrong again. why didn't you cut the boards to length? and why dig holes if you aren't going to concrete it in?

the oak posts are hidden in the shade, but also, they look to be aboot 5 years sun-toasted, Grey. boards that extend will be used to build a Manger on the north facing side. I forgot to buy concrete yesterday when I came home from work. it's a 30min drive into town. we generally don't leave the farm on weekends, so I'll pick some up on monday.

here's a crop of the oak, with some highlights.

my best guess is that the oak was from a pallet. it looked pretty sun-greyed and had lots of stains on it. I know we used to get some nice oak pallets when we had our retail shop but we stopped seeing those a few years in. instead, they switched to shitty, poorly rebuilt pine pallets.

I can't imagine any of that would look even remotely like trim, finish or furniture grade oak.

I have gotten quite a few oak boards and 4x4s from pallets. You can always tell because it weighs twice as much as the other boards.

Are you worried about Tyrone jumping the fence now?
Anonymous No.2947448 [Report]
>>2947444

it did cross my mind, but the top of the structure is only 8-10cm shorter than the fence itself. I figure if he was going to jump that high, he already would have.

now you've made me paranoid. maybe I need to put rooking atop the inside edge of the FRP.

Its semi-permanent, solar electric net, on our back pasture. Its not meant to be "pretty". Its meant to be functional and moveable. It'll be set up in a different pasture next month. 30 min to remove and reset. No one but Jamal sees it. I don't concern myself with the opinions of "his kind" and I'll not tolerate him getting mouthy.

Man imagine living your life in a 20x20 pen in an empty field surrounded by nothing. Not even some grass for that little guy to chew on. That must be what hell is.

raise your hand if you have no idea aboot the subject you're commenting on.

Wool helps to protect sheep from both heat and cold. it is hygroscopic. combine that with its natural insulatory effect due to trapping air within its curled matrix, and it functions exactly as intended by The Great Design. you are looking at a 2000 credit ram. I assure you he gets treated quite well... but you don't actually care aboot that. you just want to feel smart via uninformed, condescending PETA-tier, nonsense. now, pat yourself on the back.

theyre a domestic species, you turd
wild ovines do not have wool and domesticated sheep absolutely do overheat without proper care
now tell me about their natural history of living alone without access to shade in an electrified 200 sqft pen
then cope more about being an animal abuser and a shitty builder

I had a black Angus bull named Tyrone, and another named Jamal. They're both gone now. I've run through every common black name in the book for them...

Currently we have Jasper, Ernie, Buford, Moose, Ferdinand, Max Anderson, and a couple others I can't even remember the names of right now.

Oh my God. You sound like those furfags trying to convince every normal person with a functioning brain that their huskywives actually love living in Arizona in the summer without air conditioning.

How about Barry? I don't want to give them absolute shit names because I want to at least like them a bit. Especially if they end up being a keeper long time herd bull...

If I end up with a fat hermaphrodite black heifer I'll name her Moochelle.
