If I'm a recently retired but still under 65yrs old Union carpenter from USA who even completed the 4yr Apprenticeship, would that count for being a "Skilled Worker" in NZ, for immigration?

I see all this silly nonsense about "Skilled Workers" like dog groomer and "cooks" (not even "chef") but don't see any portal for how to become rated as such without being in country for like 4yrs. Catch-22.

Wrong on both counts. Weather's better in the North Island, especially Rotorua and above. South Island, the only place with jobs is Christchurch. Everywhere else there's only farming or tourism and nothing highly paid.
