I want to put this IR sensor...

... into this 3d-printed case. It's an RPI case for a Kodi box btw.

The LED light blinks when it gets an IR signal. It's important this is visible from the outside of the case. How can I place this IR chip so that the light is visible and the sensor is exposed to the outside ?
I can edit the 3D model to put spacers to screw the IR chip onto.

Can I redirect the LED's light with a plexi glass part ?

Most products use plexiglass and light pipes to move LED light around

If you're more electrically than optically inclined, you can also desolder the LED and add a wire between it and the PCB

Yes. Cut a strip of plexiglass with a Dremel tool, then heat it up and bend it to shape. Hot glue the LED end in place.
