Stuffing fiberglass insulation between window frame and wall?
>had new window put in
>contractor didn’t install trim around window because dad wanted to re-use old trim
>dad says oh I want to touch up the insulation because they used spray foam but it wasn’t as thick in some spots
>come back home
>he has completely packed this shit with fiberglass insulation
>like ripping pieces apart with his hands and stuffing small chunks inside and packing it so tight its like bulging out of the gap all around the window
>just looked it up and the insulation does nothing apparently if you compress it
Should we take any of it out?
He also said he’s just going to put the trim back on top of it. Should this kind of thing be covered with plaster before that. Gap between wall and window frame is a couple inches.

I did it. I doubt air is a better insulator than packed fiber glass. Also, if your window has drafts for some reason down the road it should help minimize that.

Cavity insulation needs air to be effective
Just use more spray foam
One bead of spray foam will insulate infinitely better than compressed fiberglass
Loose/expanded fiberglass or foam backer rod would also work
