NEW Luca Turin reviews on Substack: https://lucaturin.substack.com/
>>18484520 (OP)scent of the day: Barberism byt captain fawcett.
>toplime and orange
>midrose and galbanum
>base cedarwood, patchouli and musk
this was a very fresh and citrusy scent which overtime developed beautifully into a musky scent, definitely liked it but i still have a few more to try before i can decide on my favorite.
>>18484520 (OP)I don't like fragrances anymore. They're too intense and annoying. I just love the smell of soap in the shower
Sel D'Issey lists oakmoss extract in the ingredients, which is based
>>18484550So do half the perfumes out there. Oakmoss is not banned.
>>18484531I understand what you mean, I prefer fragrances that smell natural and don't have that cheap and sharp "perfume" smell. Every fragrance is different so you can try spraying less so it's not too intense.
>>18484555The vast majority of modern designers that list oakmoss as a note don't contain any oakmoss whatsoever, not even the paltry amount allowed by IFRA, so I'm always pleased when I buy a frag and see it listed on the packaging.
>>18484523Lime is such an underrated citrus note. It's what gives Habit Rouge such a distinctive opening I believe.
>waiting for summer to end and escape freshie hell
SOTD: Al-Rehab Balkis
It got it in perfume oil, very cheap. I spritzed small amount of Neroli Portfolio over it, smells quite nice, like an orange custard cake. I had to put three small rolls on my clothes though, because it's so strong as expected of any Arab frags.
>>18484564Kenzo Homme EdP is outstanding in the hot weather and definitely not a freshie
>>18484520 (OP)I'm bored of /frag/s try hard contrarian tastes of cheap ancient "powerhouses". it screams reddit indian in how desperately it's trying to *not* be those things
>>18484523Looks goodgood. Booze and Baccy looks decent too.
>>18484569>BischSame guy that made Wanted by Night ? Interesting... I love that frag
>>18484531I agree with this. Super clean skin scents are the current for innovators and early adopters. Late Majority (jeets, troons, soys, zoomers) are really getting into old school barbershop fougeres like Drakkar Noir, Kenzo, Bogart etc and are way behind.
If I donโt get a single compliment on my fragrance today, Iโm going to kill myself.
>>18484573He's made a lot of stuff, both designer and niche. He's a very trendy perfumer right now.
>>18484555List 5 other frags sold today that contain oakmoss.
>SOTD Remarkable People
So good.
>SOTD: Versace Dylan Blue
Love this shit. I think Iโm gonna make it my go to work fragrance.
>>18484575>Super clean skin scentsName them then. You only drop names when you're criticizing because you fear criticism.
>>18484576Nice fragrance anon, you smell like old money.
>>18484610How's the citrus in this? Planning to buy it but I'm not into heavy-citrus frags.
What are the best arab clones?
>inb4 there are no good arab clones
>>18484649Iโm still a total newfag to fragrances but I think the citrus is very pleasant. Nothing too strong. It has a nice evolution throughout the day.
>>18484649It's mostly amber
>>18484563Captain Fawcett's Triumphant has an ever stronger lime note than Barberism, haven't gotten to try it properly but it smelled really good on a tester.
>>18484572sadly B&B wasn't for me, although that was on the account of me having learned to despise the smell of liquor and tobacco.
>>18484619>please stop gatekeeping your clean frags, so autistic faggots can meme them and make them trendy to the massesget fucked, dweeb
>>18484718Can't imagine being afraid of posting anonymously because you don't want strangers to call you out. Posting your shit taste to the 5 people on this general is not going to open any gates coward.

Kouros smells alot more pissy in the drydown, I can still smell it on my arm after spraying it on yesterday, no shower.
The new Y Parfum looks a lot better than the old one, based on notes anyway.
What should I wear in the summer? I have no idea what to even look for. I only have what would be considered winter perfumes, since I like vanilla a lot.
The ones I have right now:
Hugo Boss Private Accord
Lancome La vie est belle
Nina Ricci Luna
>>18484797Encre Noire Sport
That's all you need.
Putting aside all memes and shitposting, are some arab dupes worth it? Are arab dupes worth it in general when it comes to replicating a scent DNA at 80-90%?
I'm seeing all these alleged dupes of very expensive mass appealing frags like Aventus Absolu, the LV line, Sauvage Elixir, Tom Ford, various Creeds/PDM... It's obvious that none of these frags are worth the price, there's no way I'm paying 400 dollars for something like Ombre Nomade, but I do enjoy the scent and arab dupes seem like a decent compromise
>>18484801This but Encre Indigo
>>18484802I've never gotten a clone before but I have a Babycat clone coming in the mail. People are saying it's close enough and honestly for like $30 compared to Babycat's $450 price I could not care less if I'm wearing a dupe.
I'd rather start lathering myself with the stinkiest oud possible daily than unironically pay half a grand for a bottle of perfume.
>>18484727why are you begging for me to tell you what to buy, just figure out the best obscure luxury clean scents in your own

๐
>>18484802a select few are worth it, but by wearing clones of Aventus and PDM you'll just smell like every pajeet on the street
usually it's better to just buy one of the many great original fragrances that go for normal prices instead of some arab's mediocre clone of an overhyped 400$ fragrance that smells like it's worth 50$ at most
>>18484802Ok, so you like Ombrรฉ Nomade.
Why not buy yourself a 5-10mL decant of it?
100mL bottles are a big investment and who knows if youโll even like it as much by the time you go through a few mL. Iโve definitely learned the hard way that my tastes can change after some exposure and Iโm left with most of a bottle I donโt want to use anymore, stings doubly when itโs something that expensive.
Stop it with the arab slop and shilling, it's literally disgusting. No one wants to smell the latest panty dropper that smells 90% like an expensive fragrances.
There's always something with those that smell wrong and cheap, and the projection is insane, I was in Costco earlier this week and there was this brown guy with skinny jeans, horrible and cheap leather shoes with a bright green sweater wearing the most obnoxious arab slop, it was very noticeable from two aisles away and it smelled cheap, something like a BDC clone. It's humiliating. Why would anyone do that to themselves?
There's also a Mexican guy close to me in the office, he discovered a 90% sauvage elixir arab clone and he bathes himself with it, everyone in the office complains about the smell, it's linear, pungent, repulsive. And it's a very short guy that dresses with t shirts one size too small. It's ridiculous.
And also I was dating this crazy crazy girl that always wears a clone of mon Guerlain, that smells only like sweet dense slop. I gave my ex a bottle of mg and I'm familiar with the scent, that shit was nothing like the original.
Here's a truth nuke, go out and smell the perfumes, don't blind buy. Try them out and see what you like, don't bother with clones, they never smell good.
>>18484926I've sampled tens of arab frags and clones, and some do smell good. What do you make of that?
>>18484926shut the fuck up retard
>>18484931>tens>What do you make of that?a joke
>>18484936Cope seethe and dilate you closeted tranny
>>18483879>Guerlain Vetiver >under ยฃ50Where? Iโll buy asap.
>>18484936poor Indian seething about his lattafa slop being trash
>>18484996Saw 200ml was going for $40 but it's out of stock
>>18484520 (OP)Has anyone smell Buongiorno? It sounds like a cleaner Torino21/YoSLY. I don't think that scent profile is worth $300+ at all but if it somehow ends up at discounters at like ~$120 then that's fair.
>>18485000spill it anon. where?
>>18484926the clones i wear are good, thoughever
>>18485036Saar please donate I need to buy perfume clones
Pathetic
>>18484919best advice imo
>>18485036no, theyre the ones i gatekeep
>>18484531You could just use a fragrance that isn't super intense.
Do women even wear perfume anymore?
Is anyone else anosmic to Chanel Allure Homme Sport??
>>18485008i like it a lot, but mostly because of the top note. unfortunately it fades after 10 mins. it's definitely overpriced right now
>>18484996On Notino, but it fluctuates a bit, currently ยฃ61 for 100ml which is still a bargain imho
>>18484907It's not like the only clones that exist are for Aventus and Layton, there are plenty of more uncommon frags that are duped. Unless you live in NYC or something I have a hard time imagining the average pajeet wearing Pacific Chill, Tuxedo, Bvlgari Tygar, etc
>>18484919I guess that's an option. But I go through bottles pretty quickly honestly. My summer rotation for example has been Kenzo Homme EDP, Zara SORSD and MB Legend for two years and all three bottles are about 2/3 empty.
Really want to try Guerlain Homme but it's never gone below ยฃ90 on Notino which is a bit too much for me to blind buy
>>18485144>Kenzo Homme EDPBased
>>18485146>BasedI'm getting really tired of it. I got tired of Bois Imperial too so I should've known. Now I'm on the lookout for something fresher, more natural/fruity, perhaps with coconut, and with good performance. Fuck paying ~400 for Virgin Island Water or Pacific Chill though. Heard good things about pic rel but blind buying it is risky
>>18485148>>18485148>I'm getting really tired of it.Yeah it's definitely not a daily for me either, but I love it for hot days or evenings out.
Expecting the Santal Marin flanker for my birthday next week so looking forward to trying that.
>>18485165I think this typical Bisch dna is interesting and can be pleasant but definitely not for daily use yeah
>Santal MarinApparently it's fairly similar to the other flankers but replacing the leather in EDP with sandalwood sounds good
Wow Lattafa is such a dogshit brand. Just smells like a shower gel or soap.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=px1rpLa-6FU&
didnt know that luca turin is such a chill guy
>>18485148Look into Del Mar by Day Three, itโs not going to be fruity (unless you consider citrus notes as fruity) but it is very fresh, has coconut, all around great summer frag.
They also do samples and take the price of their discovery set off the price of a full bottle, and have smaller travel sprays if you want a bit more volume to test first.

blind bought encre noire and holy fuck it smells good, anything else like it?
>>18485280>anything else like it?No.
What does musk smell like? Reviews always tell me it smells like skin, however I smell nothing when i sniff my skin
>>18485288Stop destroying your skin flora by using soap everytime you shower.
>>18484926Truth nuke. โSmells 90% similar and lasts longerโ is such cope. The goal isnโt to smell similar to something, itโs to smell good. Just get honest cheapies or have a much smaller โcollectionโ
>>18485292I lightly soap up every other day.
>>18485297Try to soap is even less, then, experiment, to find a good balance, see if it changes anything, if not, then continue your routine.
In any case, skin, even dirty will not have a strong scent in itself.
I would say that the musk skin smell is more something like a nicely balanced armpit, not stinky, clean, but still you have that musky scent, same with a nice crotch.
>>18485288warm, earthy, a bit sweet. sometimes furry or pissy. but no description does it justice. that's for real musk from the musk deer.
>>18485303what the fuck are you waffling about
Ideal cologne smell to handsomeness ratio?
>>18485332basically none if youre ugly which is why everyone rags on indians for wearing fragrance
Why the fuck is Kenzo Homme EDP impossible to find? it's sold out everywhere all the time
>>18485280You might like Eucris
>>18485288>What does musk smell like? You know when your perfume has evaporated after hours of being worn and your skin just smells like you have a nearly unscented lotion on or you just got out the shower and you still have a little soap on? It's not what your skin usually smells like, just a lightly scented creamy scent. That's musk, I guess.
the damages that perfumers have caused with ambrette seed are unfathomable.
/fig/ lovers, I got this sample from the mall, it's quite nice scent, fig, green, slightly lactonic but it's for women.
You know any favorite fig fragrances or recommendations?
>>18485420the popular ones are

>>18485558yes, it's very fresh and clean. though it's too subtle and shortlasting for me. i gave my bottle to my gf and it suits her better
>>18485558>doesnโt list the cumin uh oh stinky!
>>18485558If you like Terre d Hermes you will like this, they have the same style of bitter and classy citrus.
>>18485420Ichnusa is hailed as one of the best, along with Fico di Amalfi. The first one is rather genuine, it doesn't try hard to be pleasing, it asks to be appreciated as something that's the representation of the spontaneous and rough beauty of nature. The second one is more perfume-y, and widely appreciated.
Philosykos is simply an incredibly photorealistic fig, with its leaves and everything and all the facets of its smell. Not perfume-y.
>>18485558>for men It's a lie.
I'd you don't want to smell like an old woman, get the parfum version.
>>18485471A pleasant green and floral fragrance that will make you smell like an uncle, but in a nice way
>>18485558Yeah, it's good. Cartier's most famous perfume.
I want to buy L'Ombre Des Merveilles Hermes once the cold weather rolls around, anyone have experience with it?
>>18485614I want to smell like an old woman though
Can you use this in fall / winter?
What are some arab dupes that are actually worth it? Surely, most of them can't simply be loud overhyped trash, right?
>>18485725I have Rasasi La Yuqawam and itโs quite close. But itโs the small gap that sets apart the real deal. The real leather notes of Tuscan Leather just smells a bit more expensive. Rasasi is ever so slightly sweeter though so that may be a plus or minus based on your tastes. Itโs fine for me, I just got it as part of the hobby but obviously something with this profile isnโt for daily use.
>>18485725>Surely, most of them can't simply be loud overhyped trash, right?
>>18484756The opening is straight piss. Drydown is old cum and sweaty genitals.
Having owned 10-15 or so arab dupes all with a lot of hype and praise I'd honestly repurchase none of them, would instead spend on a lower amount of, but higher quality designer/niche that I know wont miss or I've tried and liked. Theyre all redundant UNLESS 1. you like a unique scent profile that is only in ridiculously expensive perfumes 2. you are legit dead broke and need guilt free sprays (NOT guilt-free cheap way to creating a 'collection') 3. enjoy overspraying for playing sports and stuff. Otherwise, theyre a waste of money in my experience, you hesitate to reach for them when better is there while being 30-70% more expensive. That being said, the ones I think are were sort of worth it were
>Rasasi Hawas Fire (not sure what this is a dupe of desu)
>Armaf CDNIM EDT (made in UAE bottles only)
>Liquid Brun + Azzure Oud (pretty impressive, not too cheap, but as a bundle they were)
The rest were just obnoxious, missing an important note, or way too cheap-smelling for me to enjoy wearing (Jean Lowe Ombre, 9pm rebel, Bade'e al Oud, Lattafa Asad, Khamrah)
>>18484801I liked it the best of the 3 when I first got it. But now when I wear it it just smells sweet and feminine to me. The og is the one for me. Even in hot weather it's great.
>>18485719you can use anything during that time. its only during intense heat where you can argue not to wear something
>>18485288I made a short post about this something like 10+ threads ago, but itโs a slightly annoying topic that doesnโt get discussed much. I donโt feel like searching up the post, but the (slightly) quick version is that the word musk actually refers to a chemical structure, not really one scent, at least not anymore.
Originally it referred to animal secretions which in small concentrations could smell pleasant and somewhat like the descriptions here
>>18485327 or in large concentrations smell like literal feces.
As perfumery and chemistry advanced we started creating synthetic musks, as in, not just synthetic recreations of animal secretions, but chemical compounds that fit the structural definition of a musk despite not being found anywhere in nature. It just so happens that most of these synthetic musks smell incredibly โcleanโ and thus they gained wide popularity in laundry detergents and other similar products.
Unfortunately the naming convention of โmuskโ or โmuskyโ stuck with both the animalic scents and the modern synthetic clean scents, so now-a-days when someone describes something as โmuskyโ itโs an incredibly vague description because it could smell either like laundry detergent, or dilute animal shit and either one could be correct if they donโt clarify.
Itโs like describing something as โsweetโ, cane sugar is sweet, corn syrup is sweet, and honey is sweet, but they all taste distinctly different. Likewise jalapeรฑo peppers are spicy and horseradish (or wasabi) are spicy, but theyโre very different.
>>18484667I got Wajood from Lattafa because it was 15 bucks and why not, was pleasantly surprised, apparently it's a clone of Kenzo Homme intense (I haven't smelled it) to me it smells like a Blue fragrance mixed with the opening of Encre Noire minus the grandma musk that EN has in the dry down.

>The Ghost in the Shell
>Hermann
>>184858783,6/5
not great, not terrible
>>18485878Hermann is great. I wish Bisch made more stuff like that instead of just doing the Ganymede DNA lately.
Ghost smells like some sort of skin cream to me. Interesting idea, but not something I would wear personally. I feel like it leans feminine.
>>18484802Maybe a few are like a aventus that there are many clones of and a larger market for. Just because they smell similar doesn't make them smell good. Chimpanzees share 90% DNA with humans, doesn't make them human.
typically they'll lack the refinement and quality. They'll often use overpowering screechy synthetic substitutes instead of the expensive natural derived materials.
There are a lot of overpriced shit with a shitty price/value ratio and brand premium, just like anything in fashion.

There needs to be a study conducted on frequency of sex after applying BdC, everyone I know who wears it seems to be drowning in pussy... or maybe its a scent that very masculine, conventionally attractive men are drawn to for some reason? >>18486603pepper + some bergamot + generic fuzzyness
>>18486610that's the nature of the beast. the strongest animalics contain real animal ingredients and are therefore limited. however, you can find siberian musk and others if you look hard enough.
alternatives for musk are russian musk and mongolian mriga.
for castoreum there's cuirtis, cuir de russie (by zworykina), le cirque bleu and you can get castoreum tincture on it's own.
prin is one of the few who uses a bunch of other animalic ingredients regularly, such as goat hair. homa is a good example of it, a worse aksum. there's also varuek, aran and onthamara. the new 0125 is also pretty animalic.

i love ADP and hate 95% of xerjoff, but this is a rare case where torino 21 just does it better.
having said that, i get what ADP is going for - it is a more natural smell.
canโt comment on longevity because it was a scrubber for me, but i would expect typical ADP longevity

How do you spray? Do you spray close to your wrist covering a tiny spot and leaving a wet dripping mess, or do you spray from a distance covering a larger area but wasting at least half the spray?
Right now I'm transitioning from B to A, spraying from a distance feels nice and refreshing especially for fresh scents but it feels so wasteful. Maybe I'll switch back to B for longer lasting scents that I might find overpowering.
