If you do it once it's over, you're gonna be popping your back out for life. Stop doing deadlift and barbell squats. Find a gym with a belt squat machine. You're not supposed to put all that pressure on the spine, it's a weak part of the human design.

what is this image? my villiga

also a good cure for horniated disks is that you can ziptie your own neck and get your gym bro to punch you in the head whenever you try to take it off - alternitavely he can shoot him semens onto the base of your hairline, generally this will send energy down your chakric nerving system and it will attack hernia in your spine. something to consider anon

Did exactly this 5 times in nearly as many months, did judo as an ultra heavyweight against multiple other ultra heavyweights. Ended up quitting with hopes of returning when /fit/. Likely will blow a disc again. Last time it happened I started a new job the very next day, couldn’t walk stand sit or drive right for 5 weeks. New job adrenaline got me through, i was out of work for a month prior to this so had to be done. It’s an adversity story in itself.

I fucked up my back last fall exactly with a linear leg press, thankfully it wasn't a herniated disc and just muscle damage

still took 2 months to recover

my advice: stop doing leg press and standard squats, it's not easy to get your form right and you can do micro-damage to the back that adds up over time

hyperextensions are a must and if you have to do deads, do stiff-legged deadlifts, and remember to pull with your back, not your hips

if you must do a compound leg exercise squat variation, look for back-support versions for pendulum squats

good luck with the recovery, and don't neglect your core next time

Uh huh... Only a matter of time until it happens to you.

Anyone moving a solid amount of weight progressing will herniate or fuck up their back eventually.

past a certain amount of weight you're better off just adding reps or being content with your strength, rather than trying to chase numbers that will never help you in real life unless competing.

form has nothing to do with hernias developing
its just genetics of how much pressure tissue can handle

Check "low back ability" on YouTube.
He did squats - deadlifts when he was young, herniated some discs and then cured himself by properly progressing load from zero ( weightless iso holds) & direct back flexion work

My lower back hernias went silent after I started doing weighted back extensions, but the C4/C5 (I think) one persists and won't go away.

My bulging disc came out to play one day during a squat I can assure you was absolutely flawless
Placing a heavy weight atop the spine and tipping forward puts shear force on the lumbar discs, and isn't generally advisable. Just accept it

I've been doing back extensions and other posterior chain and hip mobility stuff religiously for the past 2 years and it my injury was more or less unnoticeable, but not entirely healed. I think my ortho diagnosed it as a degenerative disk. So despite focusing on perfect execution and prohabilitation movements, it's really easy to fuck it up again
