>Who is /fat/ for?
For fast-food fanatics working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. Not lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

I'm doing OMAD + a protein shake while I'm on vacation because it's the easiest way to limit my caloric intake when eating with family is so unpredictable. Is it normal to feel insanely bloated after eating when you haven't eaten all day?
As an example, here's what I ate today:
>4PM: 100ml milk and 1 serving protein powder after exercise (~200 cal.)
>7PM: A bowl of clam chowder, 1 dinner roll, half of an entree (sea bass, rice, bok choy), and a shot of rum
I felt fucking obliterated. I just threw up in my mouth a little writing this.

I don't really do OMAD but I see people post their OMAD meals occasionally and it's way more food than I've been eating.

I'm just tired of working out and not looking like I work out. Case in point, I wasn't tracking my weight when I went back to the gym in February (lost my scale in a fire, didn't seem urgent to replace it) and I was bewildered when I went to the doctor in May and learned I'd gone from 207 to 215. I thought I was doing well based on hypertrophy, strength, and general well-being, but no. Replaced my scale and I've been properly tracking my weight since May. 205 now. I want to get down to 190 and then slow down.

I mostly just think it's a waste to neglect your body. It makes me feel terrible physically and psychologically when I gain a lot of weight. For a long time, just exercising was sufficiently rewarding, but now I actually want to work toward and enjoy the aesthetic aspect of it as well since it's something I've never experienced.

Hey niggas. I'm 6'0 235 fat ass and the goal is 200 pounds for now. I am confused about "1 gram of protein per pound of body weight". Specifically if I want to lose the 35 pounds of fat do I need the grams in protein for that weight as well? My aim was 200g.

I don't know if I'm getting enough carbs in my diet. I'm hovering around 140-160g of carbs per day, 30g of fat on most days (somewhere close to 60 if I choose fish or beef as my protein) and around 140g of protein (180g if chicken is my protein source of the day).

I just don't know where I would get more carbs from, other than changing my breakfast from greek yogurt to something like oats but I like eating really light in the morning

I started losing weight because I was 410 lbs and prediabetic and finally sick of it enough to try
I am continuing to lose weight at 190 lbs because I look fucking gross and the only hope for not despising my shit is deflating the skin flaps and gaining a shit ton of muscle
(I will still despise my shit but hopefully a little less)

My brain's going a little kooky lately to be honest.
I am normal-sized (for an american) now, but feel more mentally fucked than I have since before I peeled off the initial layer of apathy to start it all off
Being that gigantic really is mostly mental issues shit and now I'm having to face the mental side of it and it's a lot less straight forward

I haven't noticed this at all, I've lost over 100lbs so far and I can eat as much volume as I ever did. I still have to make a conscious effort to eat less and try to fill myself with hacks like chugging serveral glasses of water before and after a meal to feel full. I dont think the stomach actually shrinks. If my skin sack man tits are deflated and hanging loose I bet my stomach is too.

>>76308967
I've been eating more and stalled out my loss for close to a month but it didn't seem to help anything. I'm still a miserable asshole who hates everything he used to love, snaps at even the slightest provocation real or imagined, and wallows in feelings of anxiety, especially when trying to sleep. Maybe underneath opiating myself with food I was always actually just this much of a miserable asshole. Like this is my real personality and the jovial fatty I was was just a persona I maintained by gorging myself on slop and this irritable asshole who hates everything is the real me.

I have to say I hate the new me. If i had anyone in my life I'd surly have pushed them away by now. Luckily I have no friends, family, or loved ones to disappoint with this new personality. If I did I'd have probably scared them off by yelling at then over insignificant shit by now and just generally being miserable to spend time with.

I want to be able to do pistol squats and one-handed pushups. I'm currently progressing towards both of them (doing one-arm pushups at an incline and standing up from a low bench on one leg and slowly sitting down again).

Beyond that, being able to do a planche and a human flag at some point would be cool.

Then there are things I want to do or learn that I could theoretically already be doing but would be uncomfortable or carry a high risk of injury if I were to do them now, like handstands and combat sports. I bought a cheap skateboard a while ago but gave up on the idea of using it as a means of transportation because I figure even my goal weight of 80kg is still gonna be so heavy that a fall can easily lead to injuries. I may or may not still decide to at least learn how to ride it, though.

I cant quite pinpoint what changed to give me the long term motivation to be better, but after quitting drinking, therapy, a year of rebuilding my relationship with food and consistent exercise im soon to break under 180 and feeling happy with myself for the first time in a decade. Ive still got more progress to make but at least im no longer a self loathing alcoholic loser.

Yeah, but when I was a fatty it didn't bother me in the slightest. Nothing did, I was incredibly easy going, loved everything, was slow to anger and quick to forgive and never felt anxious or had any trouble sleeping. I'd play games all day, eat whatever I wanted, sleep whenever, and I was happy. Occasionally shitposting and talking about games with other Anons was all the social interaction I needed.

I'll hit my goal weight first and reevaluate, I only have 20lbs to go now, but man I absolutely hate how I feel, like my mood and personality are both so bitter it's just not pleasant dealing with myself. Its like the slop kept me happy, content and sane. When im off it im just mean.

Or maybe I've changed and this is just who I am now, and the slop won't fix me. I'm just doomed to be a bitter asshole who hates everything and is always seconds away from snapping. Hope that's not the case. Like I'd gain it all back hoping I could go back to being the blissful happy fatty only to find this same miserable asshole staring back, except now fat again.

>I'm just doomed to be a bitter asshole who hates everything and is always seconds away from snapping.
Anon, most actual bitter assholes wouldn't have the introspection to realize that.
You're making changes in your life, it'd be stranger if you didn't have issues adjusting to the new normal - arguably your introspection is already a big form of growth, as your previous state as you described it (and I'm projecting a bit here) sounds like you were mostly on autopilot, little more than a zombie. A content zombie maybe, but a zombie nonetheless.
The good thing is if you've awoken now you have a cockpit full of levers and buttons to control and direct your future. You don't know what each button does yet, and you'll press some wrong ones along the way, but that's fine. You might even have to find some new interests to satisfy yourself.
It's a bit like drug addicts getting sober and realizing they don't like their friends as much anymore because all they actually used to do during the "good times" was get high together.

You're in control now, and that's scary sometimes. That's okay. But you decide where you want to go and who you want to become, there's no such thing as a fate thrust upon you. Listen to >>76309772 and choose the right thing.

When some people start taking it their bodies fires up and it hates life for a bit. Similar to when you start the lawnmower for the first time in the spring.

I felt like dog shit for a week and a half. Not sick, not pain. Aching is the wrong word, but as close as I got. It was like that feeling you get when walking in water except it is just your bones.

I am still taking it 6 months later and have no plans of giving it up. It is fucking amazing.

Hey /fat/, just got some bloodwork and such done and most everything is perfect.

My ketones were +1 though, sugar is perfect however so no Diabetes.

I do try to go light on carbs, but I also have a sweet tooth and usually eat enough sweets to stay out of ketosis, do you think this is normal? I only eat Bread/Rice/potatoes a few times a month so almost all my carbs are from small sugary treats like a cookie here and there or light ice cream/Italian ice.

You can probably get away with 0.7-0.8 gram per pound. The protein will help with satiety so that's good, but as far as we know, it's still calories in calories out for weight loss. Eat mindfully, trying to be a bit hungry at the end of the day, and if that doesn't give you results, count calories.

We're the same height and I was 200 pounds ending a bulk about a month ago.

My dad (also a fat ass) died back in 2017 and I told myself back then I should probably lose weight if I don't want to end up like him. So I started half-assedly trying to cut back here and there, but not making any real progress because eating slightly less than a fuckload isn't going to magically fix being class 3 obese, I wasn't even weighing myself or tracking progress in anyway. Fast-forward 8 years after not making much, if any, progress on my own I clicked on /fit/ on a whim and found /fat/ read the OP and decided to actually make a real effort this time. Currently down 130lbs.

I am not surprised that small restaurants are failing, because it is a gamble to order delivery with them. Sure, some times you get something better than what you would get from a fast food chain, but occasionally you get something so bad that you can't even eat it. They also tend to be more disorganized and it is not uncommon to not even receive anything because they forgot about the order. I rarely order delivery these days, but when I did I usually went with the fast food chains to reduce the risk of receiving expired or poorly cooked food.

They get a lower cut through doordash, and people are less likely to buy from local shops than recognizable chains. Delivery apps killed a lot of small restaurants. Another thing you can blame millennials for ruining, they'd rather eat chain slop and have it delivered to their door than actually visit a restaurant.

Every Tuesday comes around and it's Tubby Tuesday. Because I'm fat. My great big bulbous fucking undulating ass creaks when I sit down and groans when I stand up. My unwieldy tree trunk thighs visibly affect the feng shui at dinner parties. My tits sway to and fro like a white southern belle in a sundress on a tree swing. When I eat food, even healthy food, it paints a picture of grotesque horror as my dehydrated saliva audibly engulfs whatever poor god forsaken morsel I'm inclined to shove into my swollen and pressurized gullet. My stomach, oblong and cantilevered, creases at the waist and droops into my groin like a Hebrew's nose. My heart yearns for love, but God prescribes me suffering.

Current routine:

I'm not an ai you fucking igniggeramus.

You think the ai knows about the nuances of the sounds fat people make as they open their mouths, tongue slightly protruding forward, saliva just dry enough to make a sound like peeling sticky tape on a hot day? You think ai knows to connect "to and fro" to the autistic image of a nice blonde white girl in a blue summer dress on a tree swing in the south, like jenny from forrest gump? You think AI visited the house named Falling Water by Frank Lloyd Wright and, therefore, is familiar with the concept of a cantilever to ascribe it to an overhanging disgusting stomach? You think the Jewish AI would describe said stomach's drooping like that of a Hebrew's nose? You think the AI is acquainted with the bulbous american dads whose abdomens appear tight and pressurized at the water park, to describe their own stomach so? Eat my dick and ass.

>They get a lower cut through doordash
They can offset this by increasing the price on the apps. This usually happens in fact.
>people are less likely to buy from local shops than recognizable chains
Theyโ€™re equally likely as they are without the apps. And chains havenโ€™t been doing very well if you hadnโ€™t noticed. Millennials in particular are charged with killing chains like Applebeeโ€™s due to preferring local places.
>Delivery apps killed a lot of small restaurants
People not purchasing enough food from small restaurants killed them. The medium of their orders is irrelevant.
>Another thing you can blame millennials for ruining, they'd rather eat chain slop and have it delivered to their door than actually visit a restaurant.
Non-chain restaurants are available on delivery apps too.
>>76311334
Driving to restaurants to pick up food doesnโ€™t tend to burn many calories. Though I agree poors shouldnโ€™t be paying $30 for a single meal, poors arenโ€™t good with their money so if it wasnโ€™t Doordash it would be something else.

that's funny. don't worry, your old cheerful self will still be there waiting for you when you stop eating at a deficit and go back to eating around maintenance. after you lose those last 20lbs, you'll still need to be careful not to slip back into your old habits though. i think that after lose 10lbs more, you should take a short break of a week or two where you eat at maintenance before you go back to cutting. it will help a great deal with your mood and motivation to reach your goal.

i did it after i hit a major milestone and i am convinced that taking a little break actually accelerated my weight loss in the long run. i couldn't wait a full two weeks before i wanted to get back to my cut though. i just did 9 days and that was enough.

I've gotten "lucky", I never got fat. Just realized that I started gaining weight really fucking fast once I moved out of my parents' place and could eat whatever I want whenever I want and also stopped working out because of an injury.
Started counting calories out of curiosity and found the culprit real quick. I'm still shedding some bf% until I'll be back at my "starting point" and hope I can use the discipline I've built up over that time to gain weight more responsibly afterwards

You need to resolve those

This is the worst plateau I've had so far. Having said that, I notice muscle in my arms now and my posture is way straighter.
Went from doing like 2 to 3 pushups, to 20 continuous one in the month and a half since I started.
My weight probably stalled due to doing weights, but it's very demoralizing to have this speed bump when I'm so close to my goal of 190.

That weight is muscle and water weight (which is in your muscles). Your real goal is not a weight, but a percentage. 190 lbs at 30% body fat would make you far less happy than 190 lbs at 13%. You have gotten closer to the real goal despite the weight plateau.

the transformation is not that noticeable after 86 hours, either the pic is clickbait or he was intentionally bloated and using some shit angles on the left to make himself look fatter. Or they're weeks apart.

Fasting is the best way to lose fat, you'll feel like absolute shit your first time but if you can complete a 3 day fast you already have the willpower to go 5 or 7 days+.

Also, I was nearing the morbidly obese range last year and that got me a little worried. I really don't want to become a burden for my family.

Reached a weight I said I never would (200lbs) and started getting regular heartburn. Also took a look at the things the obese people in my family canโ€™t do because of their weight.
I want to feel good and do the things I love. Iโ€™ve been overweight my whole life, but I want to be healthier. Not sure what exactly that looks or feels like just yet, but Iโ€™ve lost about 15 pounds since starting and it feels pretty dang good.

Been overweight/obese since I was a kid. I was a latch key kid with negligent parents so i just got home and ate all the junk food I wanted til my parents got home, didn't really make a difference though since my dad worked all day and my mom ignored me pretty much. Got up to 370 at my highest and started actually trying to lose weight when I was 24. I'm 25 now and am currently 270. Once I hit 250 I'll be the same weight I was when I was 18 and when I get to 200 I'll be the same weight I was when I was 13. Honestly the best part and biggest motivator for losing weight is just how much better I feel. Not getting winded after going up 2 flights of stairs carrying groceries is such a great feeling

Anons I've been on a good streak for the past few months with lifting and dieting.
Now I'm currently visiting my parents for 1 month with no gym available, lots for free delicious food and it's also way too hot to be walking outside.
How can I minimize the damage? I've been here a couple days and I've already overate so much

If you can't carry a conversation then I call that zone 2. Some places say that is zone 3. I think the MHR measurement is useless for fatties as a 21 year old 400 pound person's 100% HR is death, so then their max would be lower. Could be just my hangup. Everyone seems to have a different metric. I haven't seen anything that says the higher levels does more, but I am not an expert in this space.

If I go to level 4 or 5 it tends to trash me and then I miss/shit the next workout and everything goes downhill from there.

But when I look good it'll be worth it. Then I can go give girls my peepee and they'll be happy to receive it, and that'll take the depression away. I hope.

Yup. I've lost serious weight 5 times since I was 17, I'm now 26.

Went from

200 -> 155 in 3 months
155 -> 180 over 3 years.

180 -> 155 in 4 months with a lot more muscle
155 -> 170 in 6 months

170 -> 150 in 3 months during beginning covid, was shredded
150 -> 180 in 2 years following covid.

180 -> 150 by starving because I couldn't work out due to health issue, looked like a skeleton no muscle.
150 -> 190 next two years.

190 -> 165 just running, no lifting. Physique mediocre.
165 -> 200 past year.

Now I'm a fat fuck at my heaviest. I've lost my youth. I've got money now though, so I quit my job and I'm just full time losing weight and trying to fix my health.

Is it true you should eat as much protein as possible when trying to build muscle at a deficit?

I feel I can maybe get 150g, but would that be enough?(5'10 170 pounds, goal weight is 150)

You can increase your N.E.A.T. by consuming caffeine. I actually had to stop drinking zero sugar monsters because I was getting hungry. But one covfefe or a black tea can help with a cut.

Hows incline walking compared to jogging for burning some extra calories? I just can't stand jogging, my ass hurts from biking, rowings no good because of labrum problems in right shoulder. What would be roughly equal jogging at 10-12 km/h compared to 6 km/h walking with x incline?

you have to learn to politely say 'no' to extra helpings. they are still going to overfeed you though even if you do, so do some pushups in your room to at least get some gains out of it. you can cut properly again when your parents aren't force-feeding you.

i got a big one the other day, more than 2lbs. i think that your body has some kind of sensor that tells it how much you weight without telling it the composition. so if you eat a bunch of food and it's still in your intestines, your body freaks out that you are too heavy and dumps the water. the flip side also happens, you cut hard and your body tries to maintain your weight by holding on to water. it doesn't make sense. it just seems to try to stick to a certain weight and you have to trick your body into doing what you want it to do.
>>76314279

I have this theory that when you lose weight you spend more energy. It's based upon my personal observation that when I diet it doesn't matter what my new TDEE is over time I still lose the same amount of weight month to month not having adjusted my diet at all to the changing TDEE.

Anyone has the same observation?

nobody can answer that. Do it and check if your form got worse, you are lifting less or you are just generally weaker.

After lifting for a bit everyone can return the next day. DOMS stop happening. Very few can return the next day and get a quality workout. You could be a recovery freak, you probably aren't, but you should test.

Yes.
Was a fat kid.
Went from 109kg to 84kg in 3 months after I had the money to buy and prepare my own food. Hovered between 84 and 95 for a while, overweight but not obese, didn't look fat with a sweatshirt on.

Went up to 127 kg in one year after I got my first office job due to depression and lack of energy (opening a bag of Bamba is a lot quicker than cooking a proper meal), bad habits (500ml energy drink every morning before work), very little knowledge of nutrition, and poverty (carbs are cheap).
Learned a lot about nutrition, biology and exercise, went down to 77kg in a bit more than one year, built about 5kg of muscle with calisthenics.

Weight slowly crept up to 115kg over 8 years, about another 5kg of that was muscle though. Currently at 91kg.

My tdee is 2,200 calories, I want to loose about 1kg(2.2lb) per week for 12 weeks and then taper down the rate slowly. But that would put me on 1,100 calories per day, is that safe? I've read you aren't supposed to be below 1,500. Am I supposed to do the remaining 400 calories from cardio?

Realize that by eating like shit you're going to continue to feel like shit and get more stressed and the cycle will repeat itself.

You'll feel a lot better getting into a routine and eating whole foods and getting enough sleep and hydration.
