/fat/ - Fat Loss General
>Who is /fat/ for?
For the giggly gourmands working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. Not lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

Unironically I think GLP1s are going to have massive societal and political ramifications not unlike the introduction of birth control. Except this time it will be the opposite in the sense that it will move the west into the direction of being less cucked. When the population is no longer fat as fuck there is more potential for violence and uprisings and the powers that be know to back down and let the goy have some Ws.

Please make that make sense for me. If CICOfags are right, how can three week plateaus be a sign of anything except you’re doing something wrong? The only exception I can think of is gaining muscle, or at least muscle water weight? If that’s it, why would suddenly start happening in the middle of a cut?

I live in a new place and I used the walk in. I thought I had gout because I already take allopurinol, she insisted that I had to go see a orthopedic surgeon.

I returned today to get the x-ray results. I said the gout is getting getting better, but I would still like a blood test to confirm my uric acid levels. She confirmed the spot that I was pointing to was not the spot the x-ray was showing as an issue. Then proceeds writes me a prescription for orthopedic shoe inserts.

She then explained the x-ray showed issues with my tendons. Yes, I know. The look on my face made her explain she has been doing this for a very long time and I need to trust her.

They will just ban it to keep people fat and docile and stop boomers from living too much past retirement age (which would break the already strained pension systems).
Instead your doctor will be mandated to recommend euthanasia as treatment for obesity (Yookay is a pilot program for this).

IIRC the bodily function that breaks down carbs goes "Ayo, I'm all out of carbs to break down, eat some bread!" when it's done doing it's thing. It'll shut up if you ignore it but it's really annoying and the only option to get rid of it is to just never eat carbs and at that point you might as well just kill yourself DESU.

Losing my shit here. I am taking a maintenance week, yesterday was +400 calories from my weight loss target. My weight is still going down. The scale says I am losing more muscle than fat. My body measurements got smaller for bicep, forearm and hips. I lowered my weights to do higher reps to work on my form. This increased the amount of weight I move per workout. The form changes have almost eliminated those new record animations in my app.

Your muscle volume on the scale is gonna depend on the amount of carbs and salt you eat

Similar reason for the decrease bicep/forearms

Mixed with the other monitoring it is hurting the ego. For all I know I'll end up with the Anatoly build. Not what I want, but genetics are a thing. I am not planning to change things and will stop my maintenance week when I stop losing weight for 4 days. Compared to last week I lost 6.9 lbs. Those scales never seemed accurate to me. I think its because the measurement greatly depends on hydration. Losing weight usually comes with a woosh, plus you also tend to weigh yourself first thing in the morning when you are most dehydrated.

For awhile I tried keeping my morning weight along with an afternoon muscle %. Then I just started ignoring the scale.

My girlfriend has gotten fat and refuses to change her diet. She regularly drinks sugary lattes, fast food, fried everything. When I brought it up she got offended and said it was concerning that I see weight as an issue. She then said that she's a grown woman, she can eat how she wants and I can eat how I want. We're an at impasse. Besides future health issues, her weight has made her less attractive and it's frankly disgusting to see her pig out on junk food. It also has me concerned if we had children. The thought of my children's health being thrown in the gutter, subjecting them to ridicule at school and making their life more diffult in every sense fills me with dread.

It pains me but this might actually be a deal breaker. I've heard so often that men who break up because their girlfriend gained weight are selfish assholes. I just can't imagine people taking my side if I explained why we didn't work out, it's so culturally ingrained in America for women to have a free pass when it comes to diet and weight but I can't shake the guilt of dooming my future children to an unhealthy life. It also depends in part upon the surprise of the densely vulgar and pungently autistic description appearing suddenly in an otherwise casual tone. In terms of calories and protein, it's mainly going to be the chicken, which we already know is really good. It's like, what 100 kcal for a can of diced tomatoes? Almost none in spices.
I googled nutrition info for 4lbs chicken thigh and I'm getting somewhat more calories and more protein than he says, but it's still a good ratio. You can do the math with whatever kind of chicken you buy.

For 300$ I'll go and pretend to be you. Jokes aside, does your country have telemedicine? A bit annoying to set up, but that should make it easier to not have to go to your family doctor for embarrassing prescriptions. Teledocs also don't give a fuck and prescribe whatever you want, they are just there for the paycheck and don't hide it.
