Posting here too, can you please share your body fat and muscle percentage that you get from a smart scale?
The one I have consistently gives me 30+% fat and 25% muscle, I'm concerned because that's something like a morbidly obese 120kg man would get but I'm only 80kg. ChatGPT said very elderly men will have less than 31% muscle and that's like the diagnosis for sarcopenia.
I also gained around 2kg of pure fat from 1 week going to the gym, that would be over 2000 excess calories a day, I barely eat that much in total.
Is my scale wrong (and how to fix it) or is ChatGPT wrong and these numbers are normal or is my body completely fucked?

It’s accurate. You are fat and have very little muscle. At 5’8” you could probably be 180lbs at 10% naturally and you’re nowhere near that. Either focus on recomping then gaining to 180lbs or cut now then bulk. Do a mix of compounds with isolation for arms/lateral delts and progress slowly over time.

If you are 6’5” you can get to 260lbs lean naturally. Your lifts suck. At your height if true, you can get to 3/5/6/7 at 260lbs within 3-5 years
1/2/3/4 is good for guys who are 150lbs after a year of training. And have a height of 5’5”. At 200lbs 2/3/4/5 is goodish depending on what you can do for reps or not at 5’10”. 220 is good weight if you’re 6’. But you’ll be huge and it might be too big for a lot of women with your height if you try and go for your natural potential

First off, you do not have a lot of belly fat and love handles. You're just undefined in the stomach area. Lift and eat at maintenance, and you'll lean out a little more. If you eat at a slight surplus, say, 200 calories or so, then you'll gain muscle with very little fat. I'm not sure how long you've been cutting, but I wouldn't cut further. If you do, then you'll just end up very barely emaciated, and then when you do start bulking, you'll put on more fat, which will frustrate you, because then you'll have to cut again.

Been lifting for longer than I’d like to admit. Did shitty minimalist training for probably half of that time, which definitely helped build the foundation of my physique/strength, but resulted in some lagging areas which I’m prioritizing atm (lats, calves, hamstrings for instance). In all fairness my goals were different back then and not bodybuilding oriented. SBD 1RMs are 470/350/510. Cutting rn to get to a leaner setpoint, aiming for ~175. Planning on a long lean bulk eventually. Running an upper lower PPL rn, probably not the most optimal in terms of exercise selection and volume but I enjoy the training so who cares.

Thanks. Honestly the body fat isn't that unrealistic, I do have a big gut but my skin is tight and not flabby. It's the muscle % that had me.
My scale gives me pretty consistent results and it also gives water % so that shouldn't be a problem. I would think calipers or tape would be way more affected by stuff like that, like how would it know how my fat is distributed, how much water is on me or how much fart I'm holding in. I don't know how calipers even work, I can't pinch my fat except for my tits.

Been a couple months or so since I've posted. Doubled my chest and ab volume (and actually committed to doing my ab work) for this mass gain phase as per suggestions from last time. Definitely starting to see some benefit. I did an aggressive mini-cut for ~3 weeks though. Currently 5'7 ~142lbs. Gonna keep bulking for at least another month and judge from there.

Two-point impedance is just notoriously unreliable. Having lots of muscle with no fat (low conductivity, but high cross-section) or very little muscle with some fat (high conductivity, small cross-section) will give the same readings. Especially in the sub-25% bodyfat range, where there's not much fat in the legs to begin with.
And don't get me started on callouses on the feet, or influences from how much you've sweated that day.

Four point impedance is quite a bit better, but still not nearly as reliable as calipers, btw.

You seem to have a mild bit of gyno but it's possible it could just resolve itself as you lose fat. If all else fails cycle raloxifene 60mg for 4 weeks.
