>Who is /fat/ for?
For the ngmi nuns working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. Not lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

This is my favorite salad. Its a market salad from chickfila. Its 400 calories and 28g of protein if you get the light balsamic dressing. You should try it. It has blueberries, strawberries and bleu cheese.

Chicken breast is so diverse, you can season, marinade or cook it a dozen different ways.
People just cook it until 165, when you should cook it until like 150-155 and pull them as they keep cooking even off the heat.

>I don't think where you were born and where you currently live is complicated
I never left the city I was born in, it's just that we're not natives here man. My family is originally from the Caucasus but were driven out by the soviets but never returned to russia (not russians tho) in the meantime culture there has changed a lot and is incompatible with the pruddish and extreme-conservative lifestyle of my family. As I said, it's complicated.

You'll probably end up fine desu, it will just take your skin some time to rebound but you're still young enough that your elasticity is still going to be there.
I'm 34 but may end up with a tiny bit of loose skin dropping from 240lb (225 now) to like 180 or 190.
Got some shoulder DOMS from one of y lifting days this week. Injury is the only thing that can stop me.

I have been down this road or wanting to do 24 hour fasts as the answer and itโ€™s not the answer bro. You would be wise to just accept that it took a long time to get you fat and itโ€™s gonna take a long time to lose the weight. And focus on a lifelong method of feeding yourself that works for you and your body.

Fasting has merits and I accept the logic that it is good for you. But itโ€™s not a good weight loss method as weird as that sounds

There's a lot of opinions on it, but 15% is a relatively healthy, easy to carry standard. 10% is severe dedication. And 5-10% is maximal effort. Sub 5% is maximal autist, and typically only very temporary for competition.

It's a hard balance though. Ab iso sucks and isn't as productive as most other groups. Heavy DL can give some massive ab gains, but also does something with the sheath that gives that can give that strongman potbelly look. If you get to under 15% and don't have great abs, you're probably best just viewing it as a bad feature, and focusing your effort elsewhere.

Idk I do deadlifts, one calisthenics workout for my abs (candlesticks), and a loadable ab workout (deficit weighted situps) and its worked great for me. I dont think ab isolation sucks, you just need something thats amenable to progressive overload. That said, my waist is a bit blocky in a strongman sorta way. Might be from the training, might be genetic idk. I dropped the ab isolation exercises for a while and noticed a difference, but I was also much fluffier.

Then I spent a few years bouncing around with lifting and dieting between 240-260. Now I'm on a much lighter work protocol in my advanced age, and just making sure to keep my diet in check as the primary goal rather than the lifts. I'm down to 245, and making mild gains. Less than half of what I used to, but I have to keep my eyes on the process over big numbers.

Thaw the burger if it's frozen. Teaspoon of cayenne pepper, two teaspoons of fine salt, 1 tablespoon of paprika. Mix it so it's the same color, apply half to each side of the patty before grilling it with a little bit of butter. Make sure to get a good sear on both sides, pressing the burger against the pan (or whatever you're cooking it on). If you get a good sear and nail the temperature inside it tastes great, and you can then experiment with other spices until you find your own mix.

He was a good coach, evidenced by enough people in the region to go on to compete in OWL, PL, and SM. But IDK, it was an open gym environment, and I think maybe he might have been wrong in my special instance. You can't be right all the time, especially in all of those disciplines. He was great as a form check at the very least.

Make lifting your thing, embrace the pump and crave the burn. You have an addictive personality, the trick is to use it and addict yourself to something that'll make you feel better.

I used to do the whole junk food and mmo thing, then I just took up lifting.
It scratches the same itch as grinding for hours while I binged on junk food, except after a few months people started telling me I look good.

You might be one of the actual 0.01% of people with mental health issues that require massive intervention. Or maybe you're just a weak faggot who modern society has told that it's okay to be a complete failure to scapegoat your weakness. I'm hedging my bets on the fact that you're simply just a limp wristed faggot. If you want a quick fix, join the military. You're never going to fix your weakness on your own, you will need an outside body to distil it out of you. And sure, you'll come up with 10 cope reasons why you can't join. But if you can't sort it out, you'll be a weak commy faggot forever, and you won't find out why that's a problem until your mid 30's and why all of your peers are actually doing something with their lives, and you are still just a parasite living off of your parent's protesting capitalism.

I've seen a lot of articles lately talking about the gen Z stare. And I didn't realize they were all mostly talking about boomers cracking shitty jokes that they were stonewalling. In my experience the gen Z stare is a complete lack of capability to deal with and process even mildly stressful information. I work as an RN, and all the new young hires are deers in headlights when I brief them on patients. I get the gen Z stare when I simply communicate the basic transfer of duties to them. It's not every single one. But It's like 3/5th of them. They simply lack the mental capacity to handle more than 1 instruction. I always hated the boomer shit about millennials, but at the very least, it was bitching about social norms, like "damn millennials will buy avocado toast, and that's why they can't buy a house". But holy shit, the majority of gen Z people can't even function at a base level.

generally not,
so ive done blood sugar testing before and after drinking a 0 sugar monster energy and it does in fact make my blood sugar spike, turns out the sweetener in monster does in fact have calories, its just through dumb technically bullshit they are allowed to say its zero calories, but it isn't and is known to cause blood sugar spikes,
stevia irc is the only sweetener that doesn't cause blood sugar or insulin spikes, HOWEVER most stevia products use other sweetners that do cause that as fillers , kind of rendering it pointless.

well if you have sweet tooth and that specicially might have contributed to your weight/health problems, I think at least psychologically its not for the best to be reinforcing that aspect of yourself, lest you you leave the temptation always open .personalty I've approached my relationship with sugar as one of addiction where I avoid sweetness as a whole.

The difference is when you lose weight by just eating less its like 80% fat loss 20% muscle loss. If you eat sufficient protein (.72g per lb of goal LBM) while incorporating strength training during your weight loss this can even basically be 0% muscle loss 100% fat loss. When you lose weight by fasting its something like 60% fat loss and 40% muscle loss. The quality of the weight lost is much worse when fasting. Unless your goal body is something like this you should avoid it. It takes 10x as much effort to gain a lb of muscle than it takes to lose a lb of fat, so why would you want to lose muscle just to lose a bit more weight every week? At the vest least look into PSMF.

>The difference is when you lose weight by just eating less its like 80% fat loss 20% muscle loss.
Those numbers are completely made up. Your ratios are retarded, otherwise prolonged fasts like picrel would've ended in death after the first month.

>When you lose weight by fasting its something like 60% fat loss and 40% muscle loss.
Again this is completely retarded and easily disproven by literally any study about fasting. Your body has a remarkable ability to protect muscle while fasting, and while you will lose some small amount, it's always regained immediately after during the first few days of refeeding. And ask any body builder, even on high protein carnivore cuts you will still lose some amount of muscle. There is no way to avoid losing muscle while doing prolonged caloric restrictions, whether it's CICO or fasting.

You have to be a special kind of retard to think that your body stores fat specifically for starvation, but then decides to immediately eat all of your muscle as soon as you start starving.

Sounds like a recipe for giving yourself an eating disorder like ARFID. What you want to do is change your relationship with food, not just cut yourself off from anything remotely 'bad'. If you crave a cookie, have a cookie, one, only one, account for it in your diet plan and adjust your intake accordingly. You'll never make it if you can't control yourself around your favorite foods and only succeed by avoiding anything unhealthy. You can't avoid all unhealthy foods all the time and still function like a normal person, you have to learn self control. There will be parties, social gatherings, friends and family will have unhealthy foods around and offer them to you. You have to able to enjoy them in moderation and control yourself around them like everyone else does. You have to be able to restrain yourself around unhealthy foods and not binge on them. Build up your willpower, your ability to tell your fatty brain "no, this is enough" when it wants to binge something.

Lets say your sweet tooth craves chocolate, you can binge and eat an entire bar, or you can try to avoid chocolate the rest of your life, either way you didn't solve the issue, your lack of self control around chocolate, you can avoid chocolate for years only to be face with an opportunity to binge and break down. Or you can build up your tolerance to binging, strengthen your resolve, buy yourself a chocolate bar and commit yourself to only eat 1 square off that bar a day, no more and no less, when you can get through an entire bar without eating more than a single square a day or avoiding eating a square you know you have the will to resist its call. It will lose that power over you. Willpower is the key, self control, your ability to indulge a little but keep it within moderation, that's what you need to build.

Anon , like alcoholism there are different types. there are some people with alcoholism that can eventually learn to drink moderately, and there are those that just can't , like there's no in between they either abstain completely from it or spiral deep into alcoholism, I'm in the latter with sugar, ive spiral back to obesity after losing weight three times already each time it was eating sweets like crazy that caused me to bounce back, i once ate so many brownies I got sick and vomited and still wanted to eat more even after vomiting, if that is not an addiction i don't know what is.

That's because you never learned self control, you let yourself give in and gave up after a few failures telling yourself its impossible. But you can, its not impossible for you or anyone else, and if you want your success to stick you need to learn self control. You can't avoid sweets forever, this is why it isn't working for you, and why you're on your third time around. You never learned how to control yourself. That is both the hardest but also the most important part. You can do it though, willpower might not be infinite but you can build it up by exercising it, you can strengthen your resolve over time, and you don't actually learn anything with complete abstinence. You need to have a little and learn to be okay with it and be able to stop yourself or it'll never end for you. You can't rely on anyone but yourself to stop you from binging, they're not going to ban sweets because you can't control yourself around them, and you won't be able to avoid them forever, you have to learn to live with them and have the self control to resist binging on them.

I'm tired of this nonsense.

Insulin spikes are normal, that's how the human body is designed to work and deal with nutrition.

The issue is when you're obese and stuffing yourself with high calories 24/7 your always releasing insulin and your body becomes desensitized to it, meaning you have to produce more of it to get the same results...leading to type 2 diabetes. In addition if your insulin is always high and your stuffing your face with tons of calories, then those are going to be shuttled into your fat cells at a high rate.

If you're a normal healthy person then your body will be properly sensitized to insulin and insulin will shuttle nutrients into your cells as designed. After a workout many athletes and lifters have fast acting carbs with their protein to spike insulin to shuttle nutrients and glycogen into their muscles quickly. Hell pro bodybuilders actually inject exogenous insulin to get this effect in the extreme.

Having some diet soda that spikes insulin while consuming like 20 calories will do nothing, if you're not consuming excess calories then they don't exist to be shuttled into your fat ass.

I might be too immediatist, but I want to reach 15% soon so this miserable life of cutting is over.

I have to lose more 7,5kg of fat to reach 15%, but this like means losing 11kg on the scale when adjusted for muscle loss.

In social gatherings it might remind some people that what they are currently eating is unhealthy/bad for them, which never feels good.
In here, it's mostly because a lot of anons are on high deficits and get bitter because of it.
It's like the anons posting "you're fat" to people posting progress, or in general shitposting. Just pity them for they are miserable and move on with your life.
Same as it's fine if someone doesn't want to drink alcohol, it's fine if you don't want to eat sugar.

Its the same, someone is going to bring cupcakes and donuts to work and people around you are going to go out drinking. You will be faced with it no matter how hard you try to avoid it, you have to learn self control. You can't just say "I have an addiction so I'm not resposible for my actions". You are responsible, no one else will stop you from binging sweets, you need to learn self control if you want to succeed this time. Its the only way it sticks.

Yes. God gave us free will but also controls the universe and knows all. He preaches forgiveness yet refused to forgive Adam and Eve for their sins ans cursed them and their future generations to hell. Even after Jesus sacrificed himself god still refused to let man back in unless we worship and love him unconditionally, yet demands everything from us otherwise he won't let us in to heaven. God is an abusive relationship to the highest degree.

Why else would he make us with a sinful nature and then punish us for acting according to this nature he granted us?

Instead of making us a bunch of fatties why not just make us so we feel satisfied once we've eaten a suitable amount of calories? Was such an arrangement not within his power? Why would are some able to eat intuitively yet we must count our calories and agonize over eating maintenance or else we'll gain weight? Why not make everyone an intuitive eater from the start?

To make us have a choice.
We have the choice of being sinful and turn away from His love, or we have the choice of turning away from sin and into His arms.
Of course it was within his power to program us to blindingly act like he would've wanted to, but then it doesnt show love and choice from our part.
It is a test from Him to show we are worthy of receiving His love and forgiveness. But you have to try. Christ will always love you no matter what, but you have to love Him back and act as such.
Gluttony itself is a sin, after all.
If it makes you feel any better for millenia fatties basically didnt exist and the modern world is responsible for all the lardasses you see around.

NTA, but it all has to do with a woman eating an apple. We or really Adam and Eve had all that until Eve ate the apple, and basically we have been "punished" ever since, but then he sent Jesus down and died for us which basically resolves us of all of ours sins we commit in the past, present, and future, and all you really need to do is just believe in Jesus and you will be forgiven, granted there maybe some stiff punishments in the end, but you will ultimately end up in heaven.

Again, because making us to blindingly follow His word means we dont love Him back out of choice, but out of programming. Therefore there is no merit to loving Him or getting to Heaven.
You have to remember this life is fleeting. The name of the game is getting to Heaven. You should push away the sinful pleasures (not that you cannot have any pleasures at all, just not sinful ones) to concentrate on making yourself Holy and getting to sit by His side.
An eternity of bliss is worth more than any worldly pleasure.

So we either blindly follow our natural monkey brained instincts to seek pleasure in the only life we have or we trade it all to blindly follow the teachings of an invisble man whose empty promise for infinite bliss in an enternal life is predicated entirely if we love him or not? Why is this guy so concerned if we love him that he'd punish us with infinite torment if we didn't follow him blindly?

Sounds pretty sus ngl fammalam.
