There’s no cheating getting the bar above your head, its either going up or it isn’t. Try to immerse yourself in the sport as well, read up on how various teams trained and what you can learn from them. Watch the pros lift. You can find plenty of programs online geared towards beginners self teaching. Keep the weight light and try to work just with the bar and light bumper plates for the first couple months until you really get the groove for it. It can be done way more often than the powerlifts because there’s very little continuous muscular tension to the main lifts and the power oriented accessories.
