>b) eases up your resources (time)

Reps in reserve is a meme, do a simple double progression, take every last set to failure. Slow negative, pause in a stretch slightly, explode out, that’s it.

No it isn't. Keeping just 0 reps in reserve helps you do the same amount of effective work and skip out an all the doms you didn't even need from fighting a failed rep. Keeping 5 in the tank let's you bust out a bunch of sets if you're into that. Heavy singles, the greatest shit ever, are 1-2RIR.

That one's a meme. It needs only be controlled. Overcontrolling is more doms you didn't need because you're body isn't gonna build muscle over it when there's a solution as simple as move the weight faster.

Why would you want to do more work than you have to? Science based lifting should be based on high intensity training. It is the only training that emphasizes progressive overload above everything else. The only type of training that is optimal for both naturals and enhanced bodybuilders. Dorian Yates is living proof of this.

Why would you want to to push a set harder than you have to? Some people want to disperse the pain over more sets. Some people want to get it over with. Some may like enduring long workouts. Some relish the challenge of putting it all into one set. None of it matters. You need enough work that's intense enough. A certain amount of the reps that count. No one true way. Just work.
