/fat/ - Fat Loss General
>Who is /fat/ for?
For fastidious feasters working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. Not lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

Through my weigh loss journey and I'm starting to get a bit worried. Girl titties are not entirely going away. Like there's muscle, have been doing all types of push ups I've found online for the past year and there's still fat. I'm at 11% body fat give or take. Is that normal? How do I get rid of it? Less fat %? Or specific exercises that target that area? If that's the case, please keep it equipment free, I got a tough family situation and poor as fuck

Had two cups of coffee with milk today, that was everything I ate. Surprisingly this has been my easiest fast so far. I haven't had any hunger pangs today whatsoever, just the feeling of an empty stomach and the constant thinking about food that happens every fast.
Tomorrow I have a long day of hard labor cutting down trees though so that should be fun while fasted... lol

Milk has calories, you broke your fast. You're just on a highly restrictive calorie diet right now, but not fasting. Fasting means zero consumed calories and nothing that triggers an insulin response. Black coffee and tea are okay because they have no calories and don't trigger any insulin response, artificial sweeteners in zero-calorie drinks like diet-soda or water enhancers aren't okay because they trigger an insulin response despite the zero-calories which breaks your fast. If you want the benefits of fasting (Blood sugar drops, HGH increase, ketosis, Autophagy, ect) you need to actually avoid eating any calories or triggering an insulin response for the duration of your fast.

By fastards logic it ended the second he consumed coffee. Coffee doesn't have very many calories, but like >>76485350 said: "Fasting means zero consumed calories" plus anything that provokes an insulin response. So no diet soda either. Also make sure you don't smell food, which also triggers an insulin response.

Again its about the insulin response, black coffee does have calories, but its low enough (I believe something like <10 per cup) and typically doesn't trigger an insulin response. You can test your piss for ketones if you want to see if you're actually still fasted or not after a black coffee, but milk coffee will certainly break a fast. If you've got ketones in your piss it means you're burning fat instead of glucose which is the point of fasting over just restricting calories, which is what you're doing now that you broke your fast. Test strips are cheap and a reliable way to check if you're actually in ketosis or not.

Usually its best just to drink water (or snake juice) during a fast if you want to actually be fasting.

I haven't counted calories in a year now and am rly close to 10% bf, just eye ball portion sizes and use tablespoons instead, like I know my oatmeal needs 6tbsp everyday, 200ml of skim milk and 1tsp of cinnamon powder with a banana.
Same for lunch, I know I should only use 5-6tbsp of cooked rice, the chicken, red meat or fish is eyeballed, I already know the portion sizes inside my head and I can feel their weight while picking it up with a fork, I can tell 2 medium sized chicken breasts equals roughly 160-180g.

Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye BELIEVE on HIM whom he hath sent (not on IT, a tradition/religion)."

It's kinda weird. I don't feel hungry at all. There's just no sensation there any more. I know my body is basically saying "Hey, don't you normally eat about now?" but, it's like a small light turns on and you can just ignore it, rather than a full sound alert with vibration.
Obviously I'm not just going to stop eating. I've got a meal plan for today, and I'll see how I get on with it.
But, I can see how people would get pretty fucked up on this, it feels like you can just ignore the need to eat entirely.

Star jumps as >>76485696 suggested is probably best, but comparatively high intensity if you do it properly. When I was even more out of shape than now I used to do VR sports games, but games like beatsaber only use your hands, so I'd run in place while playing it.
You can do that without a VR distraction too, just run without moving, basically. The speed and how high you raise your legs controls intensity. Your downstairs neighbors will love you if you have any.

Not going to lie anon, it's not great. There's 3 things you can do for now:
- Give it some time, skin will keep tightening just by itself for the next year or so.
- Do proper skincare, the op netlify post has some info, short; moisturize, exfoliate, retinol, collagen. Make sure no fungi grow on the overlapping areas
- Do weight training to build muscle. It'll be good regardless and stretch it out a bit.
Chances are it'll not 100% go away, because that's the front of your belly, growing many muscles there is hard. It might very well get small enough that you will be "okay" with it though. If you feel like you need/want surgery, you can always get that later.
Good job on your progress so far, it's inspiring.

Takes 12~24 months at your new weight for your skin to reach its new point of homeostasis, but don't expect miracles its not all going to go away but it will tighten up more than what you've got if you manage to keep it off that long. So give it a year, focus on maintenance and keeping the weight off, and if you're still unhappy with your loose skin this time next year consider surgery. I haven't seen anything that really reduces considerable loose skin other than time or surgery. The various creams and supplements have mild effects but you've got drastic amounts of loose skin the creams and supplements aren't going to magically make it go away.

I stopped being hungry these last two days
It started when I didn't bring a lunch to work and just ate a cereal bar instead of buying one.
I got home, ate some peanut butter and crackers, then two tuna sandwiches before I slept.
When I woke up, I didn't bring a lunch again, there weren't any cereal bars at work so I just drank water for lunch and came home and was going to eat, but the hunger wasn't bad and I haven't eaten in 24 hours now. I don't have a headache or feel weak or anything, my feet got cold for an hour or so and that's it. I'm going to sleep to make it a 32 hour fast. I'll probably eat when I wake up, unless I don't feel like it.

Bros I need help I don’t know what to do.

I started a cut at 245 ilbs about 6-7 months ago and now I’m at 155. I know it’s victim weight but I never had much muscle mass and just wanted to lose the fat first then worry about that later, plus my newbie gains have helped a lot even on this cut. I want to have visible abs and from what I can pinch and imagine I probably have about 5-7 pounds left until they’re visible I’m so damn close. My issue is I had such an easy time dieting up until I reached 160, I didnt really feel hunger after the first month and was hyper focused on losing the weight. Ever since I’ve gotten into the 150s though I’m absolutely starving and idk what to do. I can keep it up for a few days at a time but I keep either caving and eating a bunch in one day or slowly eating a bit over my deficit. I’ve been plateaued at 155 for a couple weeks now. I think I’m a bit depressed and eating out of boredom but even in my good days I find it hard to ever feel full. Should I cheat for a little while to try and satiate my cravings? Should I just start maintaining and trying to build muscle? I really want abs but I feel like I’m just spinning my wheels at this point. If it helps at the moment I’m 6’3, 155.2 ilbs, and on a deficit of 1650kcals a day. I also work a lot and do a lot of cardio so should I maybe just cut a bit less harshly and have it take longer? My newbie gains are gone and I want to go back to gaining strength rather than keeping it.

brother you traded one bad eating habit on one extreme for a bad eating habit in the other extreme. you're supposed to develop a healthy eating habit, which is eating 2 - 3 meals a day at a set calorie limit.
you've lost plenty of fat, and probably also burned a good bit of muscle too. get your 50/25/25 macros set, and eat a couple hundred above your maintenence consistently, and with control. you gotta bulk now while weightlifting. dont fucking binge.
you should also change your mindset say goodbye to the /fat/ threads. move over to the beginner lifting threads. your fat loss journey is done, you need to gain muscle now, which in your case is pretty imperative.

No pictures unfortunately. Ill share a general idea of it but You can measure and use whatever ratio of ingredients you want to to hit your preferred macros, like you could use more chicken breast or more protein, less potatos for less carbs etc

Chop up a chicken breast and throw it in the pot
Chop up potato and throw it in
A bit of diced onion
I just used carrots and celery and chickpeas this time, but I've used broccoli In the past as well and it was fine. You can also use beans, or frozen mixed veg if you want, whatever floats your boat

Then theres the sweet potato..I think you could probably chop up sweet potato and just throw it in no problem , but I'm not sure because I used some frozen cubed sweet potato i had, as well as left over fresh baked sweet potato, and I theorize that the left over baked sweet potato might have contributed to the flavour differently because it was already mush and blended seamlessly with the soup, so I'm not sure. You would have to experiment with this aspect of the recipe

Now, normally I would use chicken broth to then fill up the pot but I dont have any on hand so I just used water and added some powder chicken stock concentrate . If you do it this way you might find you need extra salt

For seasonings I used lots of rosemary, black pepper, garlic powder, thyme, salt, some bay leaves, a bit of basil but not too much, a bit of paprika

Get everything boiling for a while and as things have been going for a while I then add the secret ingrediant, a package of clubhouse Turkey gravy base. if that sounds scary, note one pack is only 80 calories and adds a SUBSTANCIAL amount of flavour

Once the base is stired in, carefully added a little bot at a time while stirring to make sure the base is dissolved and doesnt form chunks, you just let it continue boiling until you are satisfied
Anonymous No.76487938 >>76487941
>>76487925

I dont remember why I started adding the base late In to the cooking process, and honestly I'm not sure if its nececairy. I guess I was worried that overcooking the base would effect the flavour? I dont know. You do want to wait at least until it is boiling hard to add it though so it doesnt form chunks

The pot I made today also had a bunch of extra left over chicken in it so that added extra calories and protein, more than I would usually have

It added up to 1200 calories give or take, about 44% protein, 39%carbs, 17% carbs, and hit 19g of fiber

But like I said, your ratio of ingrediants can be customized however you want to hit different macros

Another thing to note ot the type of potatoes. I used red potatoes just because that's what I had on hand. Red potatoes have a sort of creamy texture and maintain their consistency when boiled

So If you want your potatoes to really stand out and stay solid, use red potatoes

That being said, I like to have russets sometimes in my soup because they break down and become softer and seem to have a more absorbant texture, but if you boil them too long you run the risk of them breaking down too much and becoming mushy.

It's all a matter of personal taste really

I hear ya. Good that your starting to make changes now. I was pretty sociable throughout my 20's, had friends, went out, was ok with girls, then bought my first house way out in the country, lost touch with people, become more withdrawn, starting eating too much comfort foods and got fat. Fast forward to today, I am 40 and only for the past few months feel like I am starting to make some positive change. I really need to move back into civilization again, its probably over for me to find a wife now and have a family of my own. maybe this is bad advice but it works for me: just make an effort to eat a reasonable amount and don't go for seconds. Be extra strict with your counting the rest of the week. If you eat at a 500 calorie deficit every day then if even you underestimated that one meal by 2,000 kcal (which seems unlikely) you'd lose less weight than expected but still be alright.

That's been working for me anyway, to be honest I could still totally overeat enough in one meal to wipe out the rest of a good week, but I would KNOW if I'm gorging myself that badly

Same, finally went below 200lbs a few months back and gave myself some breathing room on my diet and started just spamming cardio thinking that if I kept my diet mostly the same I could make up for a bit of snacking with my daily 5-mile run but I've plateaued hard according to the scale. I've made a ton of progress on my ability to do more cardio and I've shaved like 10-minutes off my runtime so its not like I've totally been spinning my wheels these past few months but it hasn't manifested as any actual weight lost. Seems my indulgences on berries has completely wiped out any deficit I had. At least I'm not gaining weight, but if I want to lose the remaining weight I'm going to need to stop snacking and lock back into the diet. Thinking I could allow myself to carelessly snack on low-calorie stuff like frozen blueberries because I'd be making up the difference with more cardio was dumb, clearly I'm snacking as enough to not only wipe out my deficit but also whatever extra calories I'm burning with my cardio. Its just so easy to grab handful of frozen blueberries a pop a few in your mouth, and you're thinking "meh its only like 40kcal, no big deal, that run probably burned 500kcal" but clearly not when you're doing it periodically throughout the whole day.

Its a weird one because if I put a lot of muscle on or even gain 10lbs I wont fit snugly in them anymore

so its a dilemma of do I stay very slim for like 1-2 years while slowly developing muscle, hoping I dont put weight on and destroy my new wardrobe of clothes

Or buy Medium that I might fill into with muscle in a year or two.

I think im gunna opt for small, look good now, then upgrade wardrobe as fit. I almost bought the medium clothes that were too baggy for me trying to be stingy. I forget I can buy new clothes often instead of every 10 years like I usually do because im a lazy POS

whats the CICO science on drinking your own cum?
>high in protein
>low in calories
>cumming makes you expend calories (jacking off, energy needed to make the cum)
but since it comes from your body, would it be like plugging the power cord into itself? you dont lose anything since the 50 calories you gained from the nut goes back into making 50 calories of nut?
