Rooners BTFO
>the body doesn't differentiate between walking or running, anything in the 60% of HRmax is considered zone 2
>drink coffee and take a zyn
>HR elevated to zone 2 level
>go on a walk
>????
>easy cardio

Big Roon industry doesn't want you to know this but it's literally this simple. You will be able to run marathons like this.

Idiot. There are mitochondria in leg muscles that are only targeted with cardio, and also several ligaments, small muscles etc all over your foot and lower leg.
It's ok if you don't want to run.

You're not supposed to do zone 3 and above on a frequent basis.

I’ve been walking as part of a training regiment for a big hike coming up in October (I’m doing the Benton Mackaye section in GSMNP). Twice a week I walk 10 miles. It’s quite time consuming.

Generally I hike throughout the year, but this year a lot has prevented me from getting out into the woods. My main concern is that my feet wouldn’t be conditioned any longer. No matter what your gym routine is, it will NEVER mimic the impact and rubbing you experience from actually walking. As such, your feet will be more prone to blisters.

Walking through neighborhoods is extremely enjoyable. You notice things that you’d never really see while driving. So it’s a strange mix of simultaneous exercise and relaxation. Id imagine this would really help a lot of people with mental health issues.

I’m not sure how much of a cardio workout it is. I don’t feel as wiped out as I do using a heavy bag or an elliptical machine.

Zone 2 is for the early stages of a training programme, rehab, and de-load sessions. If you're not a noob and you're only rooning 5 to 10 km 3 x week for recreation there's no reason not to go into zones 3-4 most runs. Ofc, that doesn't apply to running PB every session

You don't recover well enough to do high volume work, thus you don't build an endurance base. It's like going to the gym to do 1 rep maxes only.
Zone 4/5 is your 1 rep max. Zone 2 is your 12 rep set that builds the muscle.

False equivalency. Gym zone 2 = warm up and zone 5 is 1-3 rep max or Mentzer reps to failure
Zone 3 is standard 3 x 10
Zone 4 is 5 x 5

Almost every gym bro is in zones 3-4 every workout which is often 5-6 times per week

So where did this zone thing come from? I haven't heard of it until recently. Anons are obsessed with it. I'll bet it's prominently displayed on Apple watch.

Jesus fucking Christ sciencefags are so annoying
I run because it makes me sweat and it makes me tired, but I feel really good afterwards so it must be doing something.
If you put any more thought into it than that you're a massive faggot.

It's been on treadmills and fitness equipment for years ever since they've had heartrate monitors on it.
It's just been popularized due to readily available HRM such as apple watches

Basing training programmes around maintaining certain heart rate zones. It has its place but basedence redditors have taken it to autist levels of absolutism. Its become the running version of veganism.

Any half decent cardio routine is built with 60-70% the endurance base, 70-80% tempo runs or just generally harder runs and 80-90% speed work. In terms of time investment it's usually like a pyramid. Endurance taking the longest and being the most frequent, mid levels being around 2-3 times a week and speed work being once a week. Vascular improvement is most in the last 2 the low level stuff mostly prevents decline between training.

zone 2 is a reddit meme, the only people who should be spending any meaningful time there are elite endurance athletes who work out for 10+hrs a week
