Why isn't inverted row more popular?
Isn't this the same as the barbell row but without the lower back issues?
It's the same movement

It's not the same movement retard. Rows with weight are performed with your back either horizontal or higher. An inverted row would be much lower than horizontal if you mirrored it with weights

Iโ€™ve heard the same critiques. If theyโ€™re doing bodyweight, just gradually move the bar down until youโ€™re pulling parallel to the floor. Beyond that use a ruck sack or put weights in a backpack and do the movement.

I do them on rings because it's just a better angle for the shoulder and more rom.

I think the reason people don't do them is it's really hard to really get the lats to completion on these before your biceps are failing. I have to do multiple Doggcrapp sets with them in addition to my other lat work to even feel like I hit them but it's pretty low stress even with hitting failure multiple times in quick succession.

It's just more taxing than inverted rows. If I want more back volume I can do them and feel fine or if im going really hard on deads.
I also find it more to bench than barbell rows for some reason. Like I feel far more ready for some heavy pressing when I super set the two movements. I think this is bcos of the added stability yk

it is much more difficult to load with weight, for obvious reasons. so no, not really the same. it has it's place as a warm up or finisher exercise, but if your goal is make real size/strength gains, doing a bunch of reps of inverted rows is obviously not going to be ideal

not entirely true. if you can do 10 reps of one arm inverted rows you're incredibly strong or are extremely light with the shortest arms lol. feet elevated -> archer rows -> 1arm rows should satisfy all but the strongest. you can simply gain weight to make it harder lol but if you really can rep out 1 arm inverted rows then i guess a weight vest. 99.9% of people of avg size will never ever be able to rep out feet elevated 1 arm rows

Where did you even begin with the idea that it's literally the same as the barbell row even if a lot of same muscles are involved. Of course you have to involve your core, lower back and even legs in both of those movements a lot to execute them correctly, but get a grip.

And my favorite rows would be either variations of face pulls from all kinds of angles or chest supported machine rows. It just sucks that my gym finally got the machine but they got one that sucks and they have been informed but we have to live with it and them not likely replacing it anytime soon with a functional one. I can still stack up boxes/benches and do the seal row thing even if it's a bit awkward to set up when you could just sit/stand on a machine.
Anonymous No.76501869 >>76501875
And to answer the question, the inverted row can technically be scaled infinitely by moving the leverage arm by moving your legs or by adding some kind weights on yourself, but it's still a bit awkward and with some back movements you _want_ the body english to be involved so you can get as many muscles involved as possible. Yes, even the legs if you just straight out do power rows.

Not sure if you can decrease the bodyweight easily in these rows. It's the same as with pull ups so if you add a band under you, it helps you 0% at the top of the movement which might be the hardest part but it gives you all the help at the bottom where you can start getting up just by flexing your muscles even a bit.

Compared to doing stuff like dips with a band where it actually helps you at the bottom if you struggle there (but not at the top if you struggle with triceps extending).
Anonymous No.76501875 >>76501900

you can decrease bodyweight the easiest in imverted rows by simply inverting your body less
Anonymous No.76501900 >>76501915 >>76501997
>>76501875
I know. Similar to push ups, you can do the rows basically standing up to decrease the lever arm and gravity, but then it's not the exact same movement pattern either.

Because /fit/ deems it too easy. Remember, to get an accurate assessment of /fit/'s average upper body strength, hese are the guys routinely breaking their sternums/ribs with bodyweight dips. The same guys claim pull ups in the rep ranges of Olympics-level wrestlers (upper 20s to mid 30s).
