I had a crush on this girl and we kinda kept exchanging glances, I would see her watching me in the mirror and I think one day she tried to smile at me but I only realized later on, as I wasn't really paying attention that day and I probably wouldn't have believed it anyway. Me, liked by a girl, who happens to be someone I like as well? Impossible.
Then on Valentine's Day as the gym was pretty empty I catch her in the mirror filming me with her phone while I was lifting. The memes on /fit/ about OHPing a girl's bodyweight are true, they notice. At least I think so, I panicked and turned my eyes away quickly. In hindsight I should have made sure that she was effectively filming me. But she was sitting and peeking in this weird position with both hands around the frame of the phone pointing in my direction, she definitely was not using the phone for something else.
To this day I'm not really 100% sure it happened because I fear I imagined everything, but soon after that, as I passed close to her to put away some equipment and she was on her phone, she was startled by me getting close and basically jumped from where she was sitting. I turned around and she kept staring at me, maybe fearing I caught her? I kind of stared back and said nothing: I guess she took it as some kind of rejection, as after that nothing else ever happened and she found a boyfriend one or two months later.
Don't be me anon, don't be me. Have some confidence in yourself, there's someone out there that likes you, don't let your low self-esteem make you think it's impossible.
