I always see americans saying "It's easy to eat healthy if you have money". Is fast food really cheaper than real food over there?
In my turd world country, a big mac is the same price as 1kg of chicken breast, and about USD $1 more than 20 eggs..

No, I'm uneducated. Even though I do know that the US is a net exporter of beef, poultry, fruits and other things.
Anonymous No.76553885
Americans have this thing ingrained in their cultural psyche where everything has to be fast, you have to take the short cut for everything or do some unnecessary division of labour. It’s like Adam Smith lives inside the mind of every American pulling the strings like the mouse from ratatouille

For instance if I’m hungry I’ll make myself a sandwich from bread and ingredients I bought from the grocery store. Americans will pull out their phones, open the app to a fast food delivery service, place an order for a sandwich from Subway so some Indian can make a sandwich for them and wrap it up in 3 pieces of paper, a plastic bag and then put it in a paper bag and staple it closed. Then they’ll have an illegal immigrant drive to the Subway to collect the sandwich and then drive to his house deliver it to him plus tip of course.

America is a place where a minority of very wealthy and educated people live among a disproportionate majority of subhuman cattle. There is an actual cutoff point I've found through numerous trials where everyone above the line practices and can fairly competently discuss concepts like logic, argumentation, and critical thinking while everyone below the line is sent into a wild rage when you even suggest that they adhere to some basic criteria of discussion if they want to be taken seriously. The latter would just prefer to burp, fart, and stomp their feet while emotionally reacting to whatever they can violently react to in the moment.

That is where statements like that come from. The reality is it is much cheaper overall to eat healthy food in the U.S. than it is to eat unhealthy food, but the vast majority of Americans are too stupid to even perceive any costs beyond the primary costs. When you suggest they might be accumulating costs through future healthcare complications, diminished quality of life, and so on they flip out. They actually flip out because a trait of these creatures is that if you make them aware of the costs, they treat you like you're a magical being that has personally introduced the costs to them by making them aware of it.

Americans of this type are superficially human, but if you dig into it a bit, they actually aren't that much more advanced than chimpanzees. Over enough time, you would absolutely get speciation.

i buy 6 lbs of chicken breasts and 3 lbs of tilapia twice a week and its like $30. 25 lb bag of rice once every idk 3-6 months or some shit its insignificant. Same with my frozen vegetable consumption. I spend easily twice as much on energy drinks and soda that I buy in bulk than on the food a bodybuilder on steroids needs.

Americans are fat because we have been brainwashed by jewish food conglomerates that are allowed to sell addictive poison here for multiple decades. I know its a funny joke, but its not a personality flaw, a cultural thing. Our people are absolutely getting raped by corporate greed.

Just smart enough for menial labor and consumption to keep the wheels of capitalism turning. If you are from a modest country with a culture of naturally healthy people who don't know any better than to cook at home with real ingredients you are lucky and should pity Americans. Fast food is cheap and easily accessible which is a part of the problem. The other is that people aren't taught how to have a clean diet and unhealthy foods are advertised constantly. Obviously schools should teach diet and exercise principles but the system wants you unhealthy and stupid so that won't happen.

Maybe it was true in the past, but its not now. Quality food (that isn't highly processed) is significantly cheaper than fast food. There are some exceptions, certain cuts of meat are really expensive, for example. But you can feed yourself for a week with good, healthy food for a good deal less than it would cost to eat out every day, especially if it's multiple times a day.

Boomers fucked us over. They were lazy and self-centered about their own food habits and decided shit like home ec wasn't as important as chasing an imaginary international deficit in math skills. So now the average American doesn't know shit about maintaining a pantry or day to day food prep and they think every meal has to be Thanksgiving dinner at grandmas for every meal.

But they also managed to infect American culture with a knee-jerk reaction to throw a literal tantrum at anyone suggesting that they might not know something, so they literally refuse to believe that it's possible to put together a decent meal in less than 10 minutes.

Around me in the US, a Big Mac costs about the same as 1lb of chicken breast. So yeah, it does seem a little cheaper. But for the same price as a combo meal you can buy enough chicken, rice, and beans for 4 filling and healthy meals. The healthy food is expensive is mostly just fatty cope. Sure there's some "underserved" parts of cities that are "food deserts", where access to fresh groceries is limited, but that's also called the consequences to your actions because most of those places have had grocery stores at one point or another and they shut down and left because of the massive levels of theft and violent crime.

They teach about smart food choices and proper diet in Health class, which take pretty much every year. For me, it was every other week shared with PE up until 11th or 12th grade. Sure, if you're older, you probably got taught the old food pyramid, which is less than ideal, but still not enough to place the blame on. It's similar to the braindead argument that dipshits make about even pisspoor US public schools not teaching you anything useful like how to do taxes. They do teach you how to do taxes specifically if you take home economics, or a life skills class. But even outside of that they teach you reading and arithmetic, which is all you need to utilize to read all of the like 2 pages of instructions that come with the paper 1040 tax forms if you are also somehow too much of a luddite to just go online and fill in the blanks. The 1040 is designed to be catered to an 8th grade education level.

Maybe pre covid the gap between fast food and a cooked meal at home was larger, but now it seems that with everything getting more expensive that gap is getting smaller. Although now it seems that its not just getting in your car and going to the drive thru, its paying for delivery plus meme fee for the driver to get it sent to your doorstep.

I really wouldnt underestimate the levels of laziness over here. My roommate would DoorDash almost all of his food and one day saw me cooking ribeyes in a cast iron and he was absolutely enamored. He asked me to show him how to do so and he got his own pan and did it for half a year and got some more cooking stuff. He also said that he wanted to be able to brag to her friends and impress people with it. He learned a few more recipes on his own, then he said he got bored of cooking for the most part and just gets Doordash again. He still cooks like the same 4 recipes which is better than before, but I really couldnt help but think he saw cooking as something to show off to your friends rather than a practical life skill.

>>76556534
Ive heard from a boomer teacher that fast food was something that was more of a monthly treat rather than their main diet. Also less women marrying to become housewives to cook for a husband who works full time and a family to take care of made it so that those cooking skills were less needed. Plenty of young single people and college kids made it the norm to get fast food or frozen dinner you toss in the microwave and it just stayed the same. If anything its more of Gen X and early milennials making it the norm.

Not if you factor in all the costs related to being a lardass. Medical costs, lower income because no one respects you, need to eat more to feel full, big and tall clothing, less fuel efficiency when driving, just to name a few.
Also, with basic meal planning, shopping at places like Costco and Aldi, and minimizing food waste eating well isn't all that expensive.

Only at certain places, and its entirely voluntary. Its meant to be a reward for the server going above and beyond what they're paid for. That's probably what it was in the states too originally, but it quickly got corrupted when restaurant owners (its easy to blame jews, but lets be honest, it was probably dagos) realized they could underpay their workers and pass the onus of paying their employees onto the customer. My understanding is employers are federally required to make up employees to equivalent to minimum wage what they don't make in tips, but because Americans all have that "embarrassed millionaire" mindset they don't want to rock the boat in case one day they're the restaurant owners and want to exploit their own workers. Mr Pink was right.
