Let settle this whole muscles dont make u better at fighting rumor once and for all with personal stories, I think they do

>be freshmen year HS
>start lifting and get to bench lmao 95 lbs
>at dudes house, sitting on his bed, 2 kids both a year older than me standing over me decide to jump me to beat me up and bully me, one was way taller and big
>push the big dude to the side with one arm
>other dude get on top of me but i easily get on top of him instantly(who was also bigger than me)
>start banging his head against the bed and chocking him yelling "leave me alone" over and over again like an autist
At the same time a year later I tried to fight this other older and bigger kid and got my ass handed to me but allegedly his dad beats him up every day and teaches him how to fight so I guess i never stood a chance. I assumed I qould knock him out with one punch and after I sucked punched him I didnt keep punching right away and just kind fo stood there until he got me right in the nose. Seems like evert time someone talks about a lifter vs fighter they are always comparing the lifter to a top tier MMA guy, what about the average guy who has some skills or even a ametrue or hobby fighter? I was thinking about joining a fighting gym but I really dont want to ruin my body just for maybe 1-2 times in my adult life that I will even have the opportunity to fight

yea everytime when martial "artist" (as if BJJ can be called that) gets in my face telling me that bodybuilders have bad looking bodies I just know that they want to be attracted to us but like a leaner looking men they can physically "dominate" on the ground while sweating and rubbing bodies

Their passive aggressive taunts are out of fear and they know it
I literally just touched a few of those martial artists and they flinch like little kids

you're basically saying that strength makes u better at fighting which is true
if you're way bigger and way stronger you'll always beat the weaker person because
you can at the end of the day just tackle them to the ground and pin them and beat them

Technique is the efficient use of strength.

The better your technique is, the less strength you need.
The stronger you are, the less technique you need.

So train both, but focus on technique, because it’s way harder to gain then strength.

Only Americans think size/strength = skill. Because Americans never get into fights. And if they do, they lose. See the recent case in Germany, this 6'1 mutt got his ass handed to him by a tiny refugee in a fist fight, then got almost shanked by another one for his trouble. Size means nothing in an actual fight. Speed and nastiness does.

t. still alive, in spite of being the smaller guy often

Size and strength matters, that's why weight classes exist. It's always a balance between skill of the fighter + size/strength difference.
When we talk about fights we don't count weapons, otherwise obviously whoever has a fucking gun or sword is gonna win.

Weight classes don't exist in real fights, princess. Even in sports with weight classes, they didn't exist in our modern form until the late 20th century. Fyi, that's several millenia without any weight classes.

A weapon won't help you either if you're a dumbass. Which you obviously are.

Basically: Lmao.

Strength and skill are both important. You need to train both in order to win
With that said, Mighty Mouse would absolutely murder Bradley and it would not be close. Let alone any other fighter above featherweight

Devin haney is getting his ass beat by bradley.

He's a boxer with no kicks or ground game, and he has pillow hands, he can't knock out bradley, he's too short to stop bradley from closing the distance and he's way too weak to pose a challenge on the ground.

While i agree i think the whole conversation is retarded, to start with street fights are undesirable, you stand to win nothing from fighting someone on the street unless you're forced into that kind of situation, the problem with street fights is that there are no rules, something as stupid as you tripping on uneven ground and falling on your head coule end the "fight", that or getting jumped by 20 guys or alternatively 1 guy with a gun who has the initiative

>weight classes don’t exist in real fights
So what? That wasn’t the point. The point is weight classes exist in “balanced” fights due to size and strength actually being an advantage.
Size and strength are competitive advantages.
Easy to prove. No matter how much you train the average woman will always be outmatched by the average man.

Doesnt mike tyson know wrestling? Also ive never seen an mma guy throw a fight ending kick especially one that could finish mike.

Theres maybe a handful of advanced level kicks that effected a fight in all of mma if you get peppered up by something that takes the opponent off balance you just rush in and beat the shit out of them thats basic martial arts.

it's not rocket science, practicing something makes you better at it. part of fighting is exerting force so yeah two untrained fighters will lean more heavily on strength, but also coordination and cardio. some sort of training is really important in a real fight for things like managing your stress, being able to think while in a fight, and cardio. also jiu jitsu hype is real, everyone should train it.

The only gripe with his style in that i would train differently is that he throws his whole body into every punch and if he were stronger he wouldnt have to. But then again he had gloves to punch with and through so its more of a boxing than fighting style. I wish he was focused on strength more in his program and fought mma vs bob sapp and other hws.

Yeah but his fight after prison vs pete whatever he gets rushed and basically clinched/has to shove him off. In a real fight thats gg, and the arguments for him not being the #1 pick for streetfights is questionable if you bring throwing/betting into the equation.

So if someone decides to get up in your face youre gonna shoot them dead? And hope nobody else assumes youre a terrorist then blows your head off?

In a street fight the best thing to do is back up and reset and then take your gun out of your purse.

Its not like your sensei has been given divine skills from the heavens that are perfect martial arts. You should be able to learn pretty fast whats already established and come up with your own shit. Skill/experience is best for knowing what to do when shit hits the fan and its not choreographed, reactions, combos, speed etc.

If you want to get good fast you need to hit the bag a ton before sparring, but sparring vs whatever gymgoers wont prepare you for final form francis ngannou since nobody has his style.

I went to BJJ gym for a couple of months to try it out and strength does have a massive impact.
Although you need to understand how to not get arm-bared or heel-hooked to make the most of your strength.

Doesn't matter, depends on your luck and where you hit. Most people are untrained. Someone trained vs untrained still doesn't matter to an extent because if someone catches a lucky overhand right to the temple or chin, you're lost likely going down

If i can land a 360 back kick from 8ft away drunk as shit(i currently can not) i can probably operate in a different space time than is comprehensible by any mere mortal.

Just add another 180 at that distance youre gonna need to 540 or its gonna be some gay ass bullshit and theyll be able to preconceive your rotations and step in while youre vulnerable. I like to keep some of the twist in reserve with the counterweight foot so i can slam it if needed. The only problem is jumping too high you cant anchor and return to mt stance.

Muscles only help if the person you are fighting is equally as clueless as you. I took on a 250 pound roidhead a year ago and outgrappled him because I have a slight idea of how to grapple and he had zero idea.

>Durr, speed is an attribute that is not related to strength
>See, look at my capeshit heroes. The Flash doesn't have super strength but he could still beat up superman.

In the real world strength and speed are related to each other. In order to be fast you have to be strong, guys who are strong relative to their body weight are very fast, smaller guys usually have greater relative strength compared to bigger guys but this is not always the case. Look at Brock Lesnar's 40 yard dash in the NFL for example, if someone who is 260 lbs can run that fast then it's probably best that you don't get in a fight with them because they are gonna bulldoze you and you are not gonna be fast enough to do whatever it is you think you are gonna do to beat them.

I have this friend named Wyatt, he's always been some sort of superhuman. He's only like 5'8" and 180 but he's had chest hair and abs and pecs since we were like 12. Did train chinups but did 19 when he tried, crazy grip strength, face of the Marlboro man, all of it.
One day at the 4th of July carnival, this huge football redneck guy, Gibby challenged Wyatt to wrestle. Gibby is an alright guy but could be a bit aggressive sometimes.
That didn't even go to the ground, Wyatt just shoots in and clinches him, makes Gibby tap while standing by slowly forcing his forehead into Gibby's face.

Went of on a tangent there but thanks for the walk down memory lane op

Size and strength are comparative advantages assuming relatively par levels of skill. The less the other dude knows how to throw a punch or grab the more his big strength doesn't matter. Benching 4pl8 doesn't help if you punch like a girl
