Fat People Are Unintelligent
Sound moral arguments have been made about the lack of self-respect among fat people. And if you do not respect yourself, you probably also do not respect others. But that is not their only failing.
Fat people are unintelligent. They are poor planners with weak instincts. To understand this, we must first understand what it takes to be lean. There are two central questions to leanness: first, whether you have the discipline to tolerate physical hunger; and second, whether you have learned to regulate your emotions.
If you can tolerate hunger, then you know that nothing bad is happening simply because you feel hungry. You have the ability to make rational decisions—such as continuing your work rather than running off to find food. The fact that you are alive and healthy is proof enough that you can do this well. People feel this in their hearts: this person knows how to survive and live well. They have optimized their body and no problem is too great for them.
As for emotional regulation, this speaks not only to the stress and quality of one’s life, but also to their understanding of their own body and mind. Fat people are often those who seek comfort in food whenever they feel a bad emotion. They are emotional eaters. And if someone is constantly emotional and stressed, their life is probably not very good. Lean people, on the other hand, are more likely to experience more positive emotions and fewer negative ones. Their ability to handle bad emotions rationally is far stronger. This has positive implications for their aptitude for survival and their ability to care for children.
That is why leanness is so attractive. Because if you aren't lean in a world of overwhelming abundance, you're almost certainly unintelligent.
