100+ hours fast and I'm getting scared
It's nearly the fifth day of fasting and I can barely stand to my feet and feel a numbness in my mouth. Before that, I was feeling great and very pompous about how easy it was but now i'm getting real cold feet. I also learned about refeeding syndrome which could potentially kill me and I have to spend 2-3 days consuming small amounts of liquid or bone broth to get back to base and I'm thinking I made a huge mistake as my OCD is now telling me that eating a piece of bread in my current state could fucking kill me.

What should I do?

get some bone broth. four hours later if you aren't shitting your brains out try like a chicken noodle soup, then half a sandwich. You can do this in one day.

Also, electrolyte deficiency is likely the primary reason you feel so bad. People can fast for weeks if they maintain their micros and electrolytes. Grab a 12 pack of gatorade zero or some electrolyte packets and drink several of them. Possibly even just eating like half a teaspoon of table salt would perk you up almost instantly

Back in april I did a 5-day dr fast. No discomfort, no problems, no "refeeding syndrome". I broke the fast on a few pieces of cheese followed 15 minutes later by a big greasy burger and eggs. 5 days fast isnt much and shouldn't cause refeeding problems.

I'm well aware that it's probably incredibly unlikely I will suffer anything big given I had no health problems and have been balancing my weight pretty well but I really don't want to chance it and shitting my guts out so I'll take it easy and drink some water with salt and some bone broth for today then try an omelette tomorrow.

I'm well aware. I didn't at all keep up with my electrolytes and just drank room temperature water for the whole fast. Note for the future. I think I did pretty well as this is the first time I fasted beyond at best 36 hours so I'm proud I lasted so long but not happy i could jeopardize my health (potentially).
i just replenished my electrolytes and already feel a huge boost. my mistake.

The chances of you being struck by RFS are not neglibible but they're also extremely low to the point that most people can break a fast like yours with a fucking burger and suffer only mild cramps. It's only bad if you totally Whale out then yeah maybe you're in danger but as long as you don't retardmaxx and just eat a few slices of apple (with no skin) then you'll be fine and your system will be back to normal. i went 2 weeks on just electrolytes and black coffee and I broke my fast with a small plate of mac and cheese and nothing happened to me.

Just eat LESS, like 800 kcal deficit or something, you don't even need to change what you eat all that much, just don't eat refined sugars, processed food and fast food, and maybe increase your protein ratio a little compared to the other macros

First, relax.

Now you must eat very simple and REALLY small portions. I recommend a tiny slice of watermelon without the seeds. Go slow and steady. Follow the refeeding guides you've been reading. Drink broth and simple soups. Avoid meat for the first 2 days. Just steam vegetables like (sweet) potatoes and broccoli and carrots. Stop focusing on taste. Your goal is to restart your digestive system now that you've detoxed yourself. Avoid fast food, fried anything and unnatural sugars. Take things real slow and never eat till you feel full. Stop way before that happens then wait at least 3 hours before your next feeding. Restrain yourself from drinking too much water in one go as well. Never fill up and bloat your stomach. Always leave lots of empty room in it. Power through the nagging feeling that wants you to eat till you're full. Embrace the pain and discipline. Your fasting phase is not over.

Refeeding syndrome is because of depleted electrolytes? I only ever do 72 hour fast which doesnt really put you in the risk category for RS but I'm still taking in electrolytes as well as water. A shot glass of salt water three times a day (about half a teaspoon each) as well as potassium and magnesium pills. If you're not doing that with a fast past 4-5 days you're probably retarded.

Just my dumb self image issues. I'm actually a bit skinnyfat and a bit overweight over what I should be and I wanted to shed it fast but obviously that was stupid when just Keto and OAMD would've done the trick in a bit more time. I'm now extremely fucked as just the slightest nible on an apple had me rushing to the bathroom and i think i may have a serious case of refeeding and I'm home alone due to circumstances and no one to reach out. i live in a rural area with no doctors or grocery market near without driving (which i can't) so the situation is grim and it's all my fault. I brushed up on my electrolytes with some sodium and feel good but I know that this won't last if i keep it up for much longer.

i have no bone broth or small berries because i cant buy them right now and i'm getting worried.

Refeeding is no joke but very, very unlikely to happen to OP. He'll probably just have diarrhea and stomach craps and maybe a light flu if he just chomps down on a muffin. Not sure about the stomach thing, its common to get the shits pretty bad after a fast, if you're too weak then diarrhea can kill you through dehydration and electrolytes inbalance. Refeeding syndrome is the body getting overwhelmed with food, insulin spikes, not enough micronutrients in reserve to process the energy properly, leads to all kinds of problems that can kill you. OP is likely worrying for no reason. If he was eating normally before the fast and isn't underweight or malnourished a fast for just a few days won't put you at any serious risk. Fasting for a week or more can be dangerous and shouldn't be done unless you 100% know what you are doing or under supervision.

I've done a lot of 7 day fasts, and have never had any issues. I've broken them with large meals at Burger King or by eating pizza, and nothing happened. Granted, I was taking electrolytes the entire time and my diet was nutritious before hand, so I didn't have any deficiencies

Get your electrolytes, ideally make snake juice but any zero cal electrolyte will work. Don’t overthink the refreshing thing unless you go past 10 days. Once I broke a 7 day fast with tacos then got drunk. Past 10 days refers carefully but be chill. Eat some type of broth, then some more broth and a little beet of the solids in that broth, then maybe one hard boiled egg, then anything as long as it’s small portions

Just do low calorie fasting.

4 days fasting = 4 * 2500 = 10,000 calories deficit / 3500 = 2.85lb fat (minus glycogen calories).
But at the end of the fast you feel like shit.

Whereas low calorie fasting, you just eat like 1000 calories a day for 6 days, rather than total fasting for 4 days, and you incur the same caloric deficit, but its way easier to handle, and you don't run out of minerals from drinking water and pissing them out.
