something is going wrong here. if you care about aesthetics and strength and aren't powerlifting for numbers, I would swap to something with more total reps so you have more leeway, like 4x6 or something, deload a bit so you're starting from a position of strength, and go up 5lb total every session. you'll pump up your "1rm" strength numbers more anyway just by getting consistent gains
are you doing some kind of overhead or shoulder press on the same days?
also figure out a way to safely bail the bar so you don't kill yourself in that basement, practice it a couple times
