I just oscillate around my daily calorie expenditure and sometimes cross it but mostly stay a bit below.
Weight is slowly and steadily dropping, lifts are getting slowly and steadily bigger.
Yeah sure bulk/cut would be faster and more efficient but that's not the point for me

I stay lean all year round.
I'm not a bodybuilder nor powershitter.
I also prefer strength and mobility over everything else.
When I first started training I cut hardcore as I was a fat bastard. Tried to bulk the winter afterwards and struggled to eat the amount of food needed.
Ultimately I think it's unhealthy to do such practices. More so if you're not competing.

Im trying to passively hard cut during deload periods and not go too long without being slightly above maintenance for a few hours and of course having protein synthesis going before eating. And mainly treating bulking like bodybuilding in that id rather overwork gaining strength in favor of pure muscle gain since i prefer bulking with rarely any insulin sensitivity defeeds since it takes way longer to get to max muscle gain mode if you constantly have 2 day rests and obviously arent eating as much. Its way easier to get from 70-90% strength than 90-100% so is iust better if you are willing to be seen lifting less weight as a tradeoff to being stronger in a year.
