It's a little less on the hamstrings and posterior chain, and a little more on glutes. Think of it as a little more similar to a squat.
They're completely fine to do though.

Depends, what are you trying to get out of it? They're useless if you're training for competitions and they take a lot of the low back recruitment and hip-hinging out of the movement... which makes them a waste of time in my book.

biggest advantage of the trap bar is using your triceps and traps versus convential deadlifts, which doesn't use your triceps nearly as much. also barbell deadlifters almost always use wriststraps, which takes away all the grip gains.
