QVL list is just a suggestion, and not a be-all-end-all list.

It's simply a list of RAM working at confirmed/specified speeds. As long as you're not doing anything outrageous, 95% of RAM should work at motherboard supported speeds.

When in doubt, just go with major brands like G.Skill or Crucial. Corsair is a big 'meh'...

If it doesn't work, then just return it.
Amazon typically has a lenient return policy--the most that will happen is that you'll delay your build for a few days, but otherwise you're gucci and/or you can always run it at slower speeds for better compatibility.

This is a daily reminder that you should be upgrading to a 4k OLED and no you do not need a 4090/5090 to play at 4k, even a 5070ti or 4080 will look better at lower settings on 4k monitor than maxed out with 500+ hz 1440p OLED monitor. Unless you are on a professional Esports team, there is zero reason to ever choose a higher hz 1440p monitor over a 4k one.

>b.bbbbut muh refresh rate

Even 60fps on 4k is far superior to playing at 500fps on a 1440p anyone saying otherwise is just a retarded poorfag coping they can't afford it.

you're the one that can't greentext right, and if there's enough slack in the wires he could be unhooking them after pull it completely out. Of course, we know there's not enough slack in the power wires for that, that would mean using an extra foot of cable over the minimum, so that's obviously not the case, but it's equally obvious there's no backplane.

1440p/144 is definitely nicer in games than 2160p/60. maybe if you only ever play grand strategy games is this debatable.

but it doesn't matter because we have LSFG so you can just 2x from 60 to 120 on your 4k monitor anyway. wont be as good as native but w/e. also for epsorts games you're not running at 4k, not even 1080p.

Not currently building a pc but I like to muck around in pcpartpicker just to see what the most expensive builds look like.

I noticed that there are GPUs with AIO cooling solutions attached with large radiators and I was wondering how the hell mounting those things even works, especially if you're also AIO cooling your CPU.

Do you need a case that's able to handle both? Do you have the gpu radiator blowing out the back and cpu out the top or vice versa? I'm pretty curious and would like to see pics of setups like that.

anyways if you look up that optiplex, you can see i like to do a experimenting, this is fun but also rather unstable, id like to get an amd cpu n motherboard proper, as well as a decent monitor, id also like to get an amd gpu for pure rasterization and use the intel for a vm or other tasks (i use arch btw) but i do make basic blender stuff n animations
(yeah no case im planning on mounting it inside that desk for something discrete)
as for why so crappy, well i fished the optiplex out of the trash and i got curious about how far i could push the poor thing until turned it into this

Druid is the succeeding GPU architecture to Celestial (A, B, C, D).
If Intel still can't make an RTX -70 tier competing card by that time, they need to focus on iGPU/APUs instead.
-70 tier and up cards are important because they're higher-margin SKUs.

depends on resolution and refresh rate desired. a 3090 at 1080p will get you like ~120fps AVG in modern games at maximum settings. so that's the benchmark

all of these CPUs should handle that, but:

5700 has only 16mb L3 cache so it's garbage and we'll ignore it. 5900x is only 12 core so id ignore it for that price.

5600, 5600x, 5700x, and 5800x, and 5800xt are going to give you basically the same performance in games and should handle the 3090 without bottlenecking. 5900xt will be a touch faster in games. then there's productive applications, which might need more cores, et cetera... basically do you need a 6 core, 8 core, or 16 core CPU?

5700x3d would be significantly faster in games, but slower outside of games than the other options. the 3090 is basically as fast as a 4070, which wouldn't really take advantage of a 5700x3d

if you plan on playing at 1440p or 4K, the X3D is even more useless.

consult the charts in these for some recent data, but these aren't exact

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d/17.html

you want the cpu to be significantly faster than your GPU. 720p reduces bottleneck and creates an artificial environment to find how fast they really are.

I disagree respectfully, having a better CPU gives you better performance when using something like DLSS quality or DLSS performance since it's rendering at 1440p or 1080p (performance) so it's not entirely true that x3d won't help at 4k.

Adapter connects to two 2x6 connectors. For compatibility with older PSUs with only one or no native 12v-2x6, another two adapters are included to convert to three 8 pins (pigtail connections may work depending on expected draw). Primary adapter contains its own voltage regulation and balancing, hence some special stands or GPU-mounted hanging hooks are developed to hold that weight up and keep it away from any case floor fans. Wire gauge on the final lines increased from 16 to perhaps 14.

Wouldn't the amount of pixels on a standard 16:9 4k be way higher and thus more detailed games compared to a 21:9 1440 monitor? Is it just the "feel" of it similar to going from 4:3 to 16:9?

Every GPU from AMD/Intel/Nvidia gains 10-15% from OC. They don't get anymore than that since they're power limited unless you do modding. So most people end up undervolting instead of overclocking. You lose 3-5fps but you end up saving 50-120w. It's especially noticeable on AMD where there's no fucking point going above 3ghz when 2.7ghz is basically same fps.

>The core technology that makes this possible is the Evaporator, it features a patented solid state (no moving parts) capillary pump that creates a pressurised vapour flow into the condenser, where it cools back into a liquid then flows to the evaporator where the cycle repeats.
It also has some proprietary pump. Pump is the pump - if it fucks up, well you need to buy the whole thing.
