/pol/ always says that shills are flooding the board, as part of a strategy by the CIA/FSB/NGOs/etc to reduce their effectiveness in forming a compelling counternarrative like they did during the 2016 election.

So how does shilling actually work, if institutions actually shill on 4chan? Do they pay 500 Pakistanis from UpWork to manually lurk in threads and make new ones, or do they use some sort of script? If they opt for the latter, then how to they get past captchas, how would a bot even work on here? I don't see too many pass users on here either

My personal theory is that if you pay for 5000 shill posts on Reddit or Twitter, they give you 250 4chan posts for free as part of the deal. Because who would actually pay money to shill here?

It's mostly Russian troll sweatshops like glavnet who operate with government backing. They use their embassies abroad to set up VPNs, so they can look like they're from pretty much anywhere. They're not only established in Russia (Mainly St. Petersburg) they started operations in other countries like North Macedonia, India and central Africa years ago.

They tend to push divisive talking points and agitprop, and destabilizing narratives like racial conflict and far right politics.

The bigger operations were founded by the fucktard in picrel, which is why they tend to idolize him and paint him as a martyr and a hero, when he was just a murderous animal who massacred and raped people for profit.
