>>105572066I'm going to rightfully assume that someone asking a question like this is using a shitty, ISP provided router. Potentially even paying them monthly to "rent" some gutter tier $50 router, when it costs $100 to buy an average one at a store, $200-300 for something nice enough with a 1-3 2.5G/10G ports on it.
1. Go buy some ASUS router with a USB3 port on it. If you want something nice, look for reviews (REAL ONES. NOT YOUTUBE SHIT. NOT AMAZON REVIEWS. https://www.smallnetbuilder.com/lanwan/lanwan-howto/how-we-test-router-storage-performance/ something where performance is tested) and buy something that can actually handle 1Gbps sustained to a drive without shitting itself.
2. Plug the drive into the router.
3. Read the fucking manual.
4. Install the "app" because you're retarded.
5. Enable NFS/SMB server on your new router.
6. Now you've turned your external hard drive into networked storage.
7. Come back when your 5TB SMR 2.5” hard disk has shit itself and make another shitty tech support thread instead of fucking posting in /sqt/
