It's more the actual email address than anything else (to more of an extend than you'd think).
For example, they will let you sign up and fully confirm your account with providers like protonmail (and even bigger providers) and make it appear like it's fine.

But they will shadowban you directly for it, or flag you and then they will eventually ban you.
If you sign up with a gmail address it will work even with questionable ip addresses, proxies and other potential flags.
