Depends what you mean by ultra-fast. Symmetrical 1Gbps connections are effectively ubiquitous and very, very cheap. Anything faster than that hasn't really made significant progress in adoption, there are some 10Gbps services around which are cheap as well, but I think they're only available in a few areas.

I kind of get it though, I've had 1Gbps service for like a decade or something and I don't feel any need for faster internet still, it's like a solved problem.

Seriously? Not even Germany is that strict. From my understanding the only countries that seem to be that anal about piracy are Japan and Korea.
You could rent a seedbox (server running a torrent client) hosted in another country, or use a VPN. Private trackers would probably be fine too.

I live in Germany. Even if 99% of cases where computers have been confiscated (and they confiscate everything inside an apartment belonging to one IP including phones and USBs) included other offenses like CP, why would I take the risk?

I can stream everything for free without uploading (this "distributing"). I pay for my games since I don't even want to bother with virus protection and having different machines for work and leisure.

Because Germany is a retirement prison. 82% of a year's generated value goes toward paying boomer pensions. They disgusting farts have paid-off houses with gardens and rake in more net than two full-time engineers that live in a shitty soviet block paying rent to boomers who refuse to release new building space driving up prices. These retarded fucks go to a doctor four times a week, replace their hips without necessity and call an ambulance bi-weekly racking up a monthly medical bill that exceeds a top manager's salary. The average German slave has to pay for six boomers and it's only getting worse. Meanwhile he never retires as the retirement age is approaching 72; boomers retiring at age 55. The remaining boomers that dumped all their money on hippy LSD and cruises all have government protected rental agreements for their 6 room inner-city palaces, impossible to raise rent or evict because think of the boomers. What will grandma do if she can not walk three minutes to the nearest inner-city supermarket? How will she reach the doctor in time when she only has free time all day and no obligations? Meanwhile young families live in the migrant-infested suburban ghettos and drive their children 47 minutes to the nearest privately paid daycare so they can slave for the rest of the day. Only unemployed people get everything paid for by the government. One wage for all. You slave from day zero and make 700 Euros more than a homeless heroin addict. Germany is an insult.

Must be a super local test and or super new. They've had FTTH in my area for 6-7 years and it started at 2gbps, then 3gbps, then 6gbps, and finally 10gbps.

It has been $300/month the entire time.

Though in this area they're also offering 2100/300mbps over DOCSIS, so there isn't really a point in deploying FTTH for anything less than ~5-10Gbps.

Do you have 10gbps router, switches, or NICs?

I didn't go 10gig because it would cost me $800-1200 to get 10gig gear.

i've recently watched my favorite korean slut do a bike tour through "1st world" european countries

Because in first world nations they primarily use the internet through an FTTH connection with wifi, not cell service. Whereas Vietnam doesn't have anywhere near as wide availability of fast dedicated wireline internet at home, and most people use 5G cellular networks which forces Vietnam to have a more robust cell network at the expense of their wireline offerings.

Vietnam is 33rd in the world for fixed broadband speeds, but ranges between 19th and 27th for wireless speeds.

Conversely a country like Switzerland is 9th for fixed broadband speeds, but 30th for wireless speeds.

Basically, Vietnam is poor and most people only have a cell phone connected over 4G/5G cellular but europe is rich and most people have a lot of wifi connected devices and thus they focus on home internet investments.

Torrents? Bragging rights?

Not a criticism, just wondering why you would bother, I rarely every max out my 1 gig connection

As I said, I don't and am waiting until 10gig equipment comes down in price.

I have 2gig currently and can use it even on regular game downloads. While most games are only hitting 1-1.5gbps some game downloads have hit over 2gbps for me.

>I rarely every max out my 1 gig connection
Does your ISP have shitty peering?

I regularly max out my 1gig, windows updates, nvidia drivers, steam downloads, etc. all can max my 1gig connection.
