>never bother to safely eject usb stick
>just grab it and yank it out
>everything is fine
Why do they want us to safely eject usb devices through the taskbar? Are they gathering ejection data? Are they placing ejection data on our sticks?
Whatever the case I don't care what they want. I rip my usb stick whenever I feel like it. No one will stop me either. My stick, my choice. I do what I want.

It's in either in case you have disabled safe hotplugging on USB, or remnant from times when there was no such safety net. It's enabled by default on windows.

Sounds like spyware. So typical of Microsoft.
