On some occasions I'll hear a whining or a hissing noise coming from my computer if I'm, say, sitting at the main menu of a game. But it'll go away if I select someone other menu and return if I go back to the main menu. From what I've observed, this only occurs when I'm playing games. Where is that noise coming from?

Coil whine from your GPU or PSU. Its adaptive to the current load. If you set a fps cap to like 30-60 for example, the noise is far less than leaving it uncapped.

basically every decent CPU will handle 60-75fps bro lol. you want to get something decent because a slow CPU will worsen the 1% lows, or the game is multi-threaded and needs more CPU horsepower like cities skylines or w/e. stuff like that

if you want high refresh then you'd want a fast CPU, like 7600x/9600x or the 7800x3d/9800x3d

my desk was 30" wide by 24" deep. a 24" monitor was just too fucking big, and 22" monitors are all just 1080p/60hz IPS.

you want something like a 48" wide by 30" deep desk. then you can have any monitors you want.

My lg1511 died and nobody makes those anymore. Lg1700 was the cheapest replacement available. I still think motherboards are the cause of the problem as the hottest part tends to be the board itself, and there aren't competitors or brands for MBs all made in China in the DIY market. I can only get what I can buy. It's cheaper to get another motherboard than a CPU, because sometimes the quick lights only say it's the component's problem. Red CPU but orange RAM, now that's two things wrong and suspiciously broken at the same time after shutdown. But if it is the CPU I won't pay more than $150 for another one.

It was +475 MHz, -85 mV, +150 MHz memory (with Fast Timing), and +10% power limit. Card is a Hellhound.
I had tested some higher settings on other benchmarks and crashed. With these it was so far stable.
In the end, I went down to +325 MHz, -65mV, +100 MHz memory, +7% power (but probably should just crank that to full).
Noticeably cooler, quieter, and it's like 80% of the performance.

I also tried just -mV and +power, results weren't as good.

Amazing value for money, incredible overclocking and undervolting potential, the beat 1% lows possible due to cpu and gpu synergy with smart access memory, the best performance in non cucked ai models (7900 xtx is faster than 4090 in deepseek). People were also talking about non-XT in XT threads and vice versa. The XT is already past peak efficiency, whereas the non-XT isn't. I'm really not an expert at these things, but I'm pretty sure that comes into play when you start overclocking.
Or maybe it's manufacturer dependent, who knows.

As far as I know the MSI MPG A850GL psu are the ones that doesn't have japanese high school girls in them like their MSI MPG A850G so perhaps change it out to something else.

The B850M version of the Asus board says it has it as well but apparantly doesn't. And there's like 10 versions of the Gigabyte board and some do have drivers and some don't.

amount of fps depends on settings. if you're approach it to put all sliders to Ultra and call it a day - well, there you might actually encounter problems. but if your willing to spend a few minutes tweaking-down a few unnecessary effects here and there - you will do just fine. nobody says that you have to play on minimal settings in 720p - just be a more reasonable with resource utilization, and check if there is any actually visible difference of something being on Ultra vs High vs Medium.

Yep, you have to first check on the manufacturers site but that isn't enough, you have to search every board name + wifi bluetooth win 10 reddit. On some of them the WIfi doesn't work even if they say they do.

Boards with Wifi 6 is the most sure bet, Wifi 6e you have to check very throughly and Wifi 7 doesn't work on Win 10.

I was very close to fall into this trap myself, only discovered it by luck. I'm probably going to go with the Asus TUF GAMING B650M-PLUS WIFI myself and disable all the asus bloatware in bios.

Yea. The difference between ATX3.0 and ATX3.1 are the pin lengths for the connector. For ATX 3.1 they shortened the sensing pins as SENSE0 and SENSE1 need to be grounded for 600W and extended the pins for powering the GPU. This way it's less likely that the connector is incorrectly seated but wont prevent a bad cable to melt the connector. If you want to use this PSU make sure the 12V cable is actually designed for 600W. I'd personally pick an ATX 3.1 just to be on the safer side but that's up to you.

supposedly the 2070S has a DisplayPort 1.4, and the monitor I'm looking at has a DisplayPort 1.4a
I'd run it at 60-144Hz (monitor goes up to 360Hz), but apparently the monitor doesn't have g-sync, although idk if I'd even need it. I asked chatgpt all this shit and it said it should be fine since I can use VESA Adaptive Sync and force g-sync manually

Not true, not even at 4K! The outrage surrounding UE5 has been about excessive GPU AND CPU load. Zen3 is certainly feeling it. You are about in PS5 CPU territory now, good luck! A 7700X would provide comparable multi with way better single and IO. But, as someone who also can't stand compiling times on an 8 core, I understand where you are coming from.

No idea what you're on about. It's nowhere near that bad. This benchmark is fsr3 quality which gives more performance than fsr4 and there is only maybe the slightest bottleneck. UE5 at higher resolutions becomes gpu bound way before it does cpu. I played through all of robocop rouge city and capped the fps at 90 but wasn't bottlenecked with it uncapped, the only cpu bound scenarios i encountered were fighting these robots in the endgame that for some reason tanked the fps, i looked up footage of other people playing those sections with better processors and their framerate dropped a lot too so the game is just coded like shit.

I'm not talking about random games or YouTube screenshots with you, as the others have noted, you are extremely uneducated on the matter. The fact of the matter is, if your GPU is waiting on your CPU on a new build, you fucked up. 80% util means you might as well have just bought a 7800XT last year, would have been a better pairing for such an old CPU.
>UE5 at higher resolutions becomes gpu bound way before it does cpu.
This is the misinformed normie's basic understanding of a bottleneck. Good enough to sound smart but doesn’t actually address or understand the issue.

Being “GPU-bound” at high res might be true in a vacuum, then sure, more pixels = more GPU load, but in real-world usage, especially with UE5’s architecture, you’re often dealing with way more than just resolution-based limitations. There are engine-level bottlenecks, IO throughput, CPU thread scheduling, asset streaming, GPU stalls waiting on CPU, etc. Any of these can become the limiter, and they can all introduce stutter, inconsistent frametimes, or poor scaling.

If your CPU isn’t strong enough to keep up with the demands of the scene, like feeding draw calls, handling physics, streaming Nanite data, or managing Lumen's global lighting updates, then congrats, you're not “GPU-bound,” you're just bottlenecked upstream. That leads to artificial GPU idling, dropped frames, and stutter, not because your GPU is weak, but because it’s waiting on the rest of your system to catch up.

Any KB/M recommendation for couch setup?

Any wireless mouse will work. Redragon has gotten way better in quality for half the price of Logitech or Razer. Royal Kludge also makes nice keyboards. It's a personal thing where you have to pick which one you like the features and the look of.

Personally I like this thin redragon keyboard since it's lightweight tactile and has a volume slider. I really recommend having a volume slider for a TV setup since it's super convenient and responsive compared to using a button or hotkey. You can get a wireless mouse and KB for under 60 bucks total.

>Redragon K618 PRO 3-Mode Wireless RGB Mechanical Keyboard, BT/2.4Ghz/Wired Low Profile Win/Mac Gaming Keyboard w/Ultra-Thin Design, Dedicated Media Control & Linear Red Switch
won't let me link it but thats the KB I posted.
forgot to link the board i use. If you really want a small keyboard you could go with a Tenkeyless. I personally prefer having a numpad.

Thanks man.
I probably should've said it's not for gaming though.
The volume knob is something I agree with you one.
I have pic related, but it feels like remote control and not actual KB.
What about gamepads?
I'm not looking for the 0.00000000001 latency, but more of comfortable design, and cheap.

I have a full size wireless AND a keyboard just like that for when im just chilling and using a browser, i recommend both if you can afford it so you can type faster than that little thing. it's good for just using it in bed or laying down. Would recommend that.

For gamepads, 8bitdo is really well made with hall effect sticks for half the price of Xbox and the only ones I can recommend. Xbox style controller. All the other cheapo ones break easily. If you can splurge, just buy a regular Xbox Controller for around 60 bucks. Xbox is really comfortable compared to PS in my opinion as a taller guy with larger hands. Hope I helped ya out.
