people act like they cannot live w/o multi-monitor setup. they act like it's totally normal to have 3 monitors (not even just 2). linux users do this also and linux literally has virtual desktops built in.

people have lost the plot.

>i need 3 monitors.
>and i keep 15+ tabs open in my browser at all times
>this monitor is just for my Audacity where i record my podcast

the illusion of productivity

unless you are monitoring something actually important you're just having a laugh (industrial monitoring, network monitoring, stock market, etc).

Dual monitors make a significant difference in comfort, productivity, and not having that claustrophobic feeling. More than that is almost always pointless unless you have a very specific use case.

No they're not. Your ultrawide consumer shit television can't compare to having multiple monitors for different purposes. I have high refresh rate 4k monitors stacked one on top of the other in the middle. I have 1080p monitor on the right rotated in portrait for reading documentation. I have two 21-inch CRTs on the left in stacked configuration for applications that do not work well on modern LCDs. I have a consumer television at the 6th monitor for verifying things look okay on a shitty consumer set which most of the clients I produce for will watch the content I edit on.

Options are nice. I like being able to play old games or watch pre-HD era content on the monitors intended for it. I like seeing the result of editing and upscaling such content on a modern monitor in real time. I like being able to verify I've properly edited SDR master into HDR re-master. I like having the option of checking things function correctly on 144hz vs 60hz without fucking around with constantly reconfiguration of things.

All of that doesn't even begin to cover cases where I have something like man pages open on one monitor, working on another and outputting the result to a third. Or checking stuff like webpages I'm making on various resolutions and types of monitors. Being a poorfag isn't an excuse either. Most of the monitors on my desk were ones I got for free excluding the ones I dropped a lot of coin on in the middle. The CRTs are left overs I've been using for 25+ years now or ones I picked up from people that were going to throw them in the dumpster when consumer whores all updated to LCDs. I have a bunch in storage ready to go should any of these ever shit the bed. But I try to re-cap them often and keep them going since the 21-inch ones I'm currently using are very nice.

Fuck you OP you are a retarded faggot. I NEED multiple monitors so I can switch between watching stuff, coding on my projects, and gayming.

If a single tiny monitor doesn't make you feel crammed and cluttered then you probably just play on social media and don't actually use your machine the way it's supposed to be used.

Multiple Firefox tabs, multiple IDE instances, Docker up, and Squad running is more than enough of an explanation for 22gb of RAM, how do you not understand that.
>Using wireless when there are two Ethernet ports
Those are hyperV not plugged in ports. If you did big boy development and testing you might have noticed the vEthernet.

Yeah this explains how this board went full retard since the last time I visited. Mr. Big Boy developer over here with his MSM propaganda in 240p. Who thinks I wouldn't be making fun of him if he was watching the Commie News Network coverage of the fake kike war instead of the Faux News coverage of the fake kike war.

You are the reason we've collectively fucked. Let me guess. Mr. Big Boy Developer is developing webapps for big tech. That javascript sure is hard. Need three browser engines running at the same time to debug it.

Multi-monitor setups are for braindead faggots.

Because these days you can get a large 4k monitor for cheaper that replaces and is objectively better than most multi-monitor setups.

I have two at home. If Iโ€™m feeling frisky Iโ€™ll add my iPad Pro and use it as an external screen. At work, weโ€™re required to use 5. Two big ones, two medium ones and a giant television monitor on top. I work in cybersecurity so, itโ€™s essential to have that many.

>IDE on the middle, console output on the left, GUI on the right.
Close enough, yeah. Multiple editors with multiple files open on two monitors, consoles where I'm running the various component applications on the third (I do a fair amount of client/server stuff, so there's usually at least two components). If there's a desktop GUI or web interface involved that goes on the next virtual desktop.

As for virtual desktops: I've got several in use at all times. For every project I work on I have a multiple screen "workbench" with the various windows described above. If I put it down to work on something else, I'll just create a fresh virtual desktop to clutter all 3 screens on. More than 3 monitors is where it gets a bit questionable because you'll reach the limit of what you can fit in your field of view. Also this is where you start to need some sort of hotkey to fast-forward the mouse cursor to the next monitor over because it'll take you ages to move it there in a conventional manner.

At home I use linux and I have no need for a second screen because tiling window managers use screen space well.

For work I have to use windows 11 and I'm not allowed in install custom software onto it. Working with a single screen on windows is awful. Virtual desktops and snapping windows are not enough.
