component selection for the least curry pc build?

Building a PC with 9950X3D. What is the equivalent of 6000CL30 for this CPU?
>>105598138theres areason why its cheaper
just search the archive and look for the anons mentioning 5000 series and zotac
i warned you
Is it worth it to go from 3700x/5700xt to 5700x/9060 xt?
5700x3d is like 2.5x the price of the 5700x.
I took out my GPU to try and clean inside my computer a bit and now I get no display. The GPU turns on cause I see the fans spinning but I get no image. I'm fairly certain I plugged everything back in correctly. There's no weird noises coming from anywhere.
CPU is ryzen 7 5800x
mobo is asus prime b550-plus ac-hes
gpu is msi ventus 3080
>>105597954seems like they tried to copy the Antec Flux
but the flux already a top tier performer, has normal fans, far easier to build with and there is even a Flux SE with no glass side panel.
is there a clock stretching equivalent for gpu? i was undervolting my gpu and after a certain point there is a drop in performance despite being stable
>>105598040Zotac this generation is alright. They have some odd cost cutting measures like a BIOS switch press-button rather than a lever so you can't tell visually what mode its in, but otherwise they function fine. Big fat coolers with the non-Core models too so they will be miles ahead of any Ventus you might find.

I was wondering if this graphics card would improve the performance of my old desktop ever so slightly? I don't have any experience with graphics cards and have always relied on built in graphics.
I heard that a graphics card can improve performance by freeing up a bit of the processor.
This should work on a windows 10, intel i3-3240, 16gb ram, provided I have a big enough power supply?
Also I do know this is a shit card compared to some of you guys battle stations but this pc is pretty much used for email, word processing, web searches and maybe some YouTube.

>>105598384it also has *two* power buttons but not a reset button, safe to say I'm not falling for such garbage

>Case with good stock PWM fansno recommendations for those needing replacements or just more?
>SSDNo Samsungs? Is 990 Pro bad?
>>105598380>>105598392Your computer is using a portion of its ram to run the integrated graphics, probably around 2GB, you can check in task manager for hardware reserved, so it would free that up. But 16GB is plenty for an office PC and video playback is perfectly fine on integrated. It probably won't make any difference. What would make a difference is upgrading the storage, maybe a better SSD?
>>105598459That's hardware.
Long press (motherboard) should always be a shutdown.
>>105598283Nevermind, it was my RAM that I didn't properly reseat. You really gotta press those fucking things down.
>>105598498>video playback is perfectly fine on integratedThe codec kikes have ensured that this is NOT the case.
An older CPU like the i3-3240 doesn't have any acceleration for video decoding even for YouTube these days, it could previously play 4K60 totally fine... with 264, but then they changed codecs to save 0.00002% of bandwidth and now everything without the new codec support has become e-waste tier for no good reason other than 0.00002% bandwidth savings for cloudflare.
The solution is dropping in a modern (codec compliant) discrete GPU of ANY performance class because it's not really a computational limit. It's more of an artificially engineered one. Modern video is basically just new hoops to jump through.
>>105598494990 pro is the best gen4 drive available
>>105598498Okay, that makes sense.
The HDD is a 240gb SSD so I assumed that it's alright for speed.
I was originally going to try and upgrade the CPU but I couldn't really see a clearly better one that was compatible with the motherboard.
>>105598523So are you saying it would be beneficial to put this little GPU in?
>>105598523Oh right, they use AV1 these days for youtube and that's newer than a third gen. I completely forgot about that.
>>105597893 (OP)>Lossless scaling dual gpu sucks assMFG, Smooth motion, AFMF, FSR 3/4 FG are leagues ahead of Lossless. The people who convince themselves that dual GPU lossless gives them 5090 performance are smoking more crack than Jensen saying a 5070 = 4090. The secondary 9060XT has already been removed. On the bright side, this Gigabyte Gaming 9070XT is performing properly compared to the busted Red Devil.
>>105598472even if the aio is good i will gladly spend more for the noctua aio when it release
both CPU and GPUs are getting more and more housefire so having a case where GPU hot air isn't choking the CPU so it can boost higher easier will be more than just a minmax
>>105598538So would it be beneficial to install a GPU then?
>>105598573A GT 710 is about as old as the rest of your computer, so not that. If you're already on an SSD and still thinking the computer is slow there's not really any sane upgrade paths for such an old build, it's probably better to get something new.
>>105598547>Gigabyte>performing properlyYeah okay
>>1055984942x64gb is only if you do orchestral music or 8k video editing. 64gb is enough for normal "creators" the next 10 years.
>>105598533>So are you saying it would be beneficial to put this little GPU in?If you intend to watch videos or use any online services that aren't 264 or 265 or older codecs, then yeah, probably.
If you're not going to use it then you'll save watts by not using the discrete GPU. If you do occasionally watch videos, sometimes CPU fallback (CPU doing work the GPU would otherwise bypass with acceleration, much slower) can take up the slack without a GPU but the 3240 is barely going to be fast enough for 1080p60 without any dropped frames, let alone higher resolutions like 1440p or so.
You can also try extensions that will tell the service you can't run newer codecs but they might just say fuck you and send you old 264 encodes at a max res of 720p or something.
I would install it if you have it but not sure if it'll help because it's not listed on this page at all
https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-and-decode-gpu-support-matrix-new
Remember this isn't a (((youtube))) problem necessarily, they're just one of the primary sources of this kind of content. Even downloaded videos will suffer from lack of decoding acceleration so local files/etc will also be hard to run without acceleration.
If you have a NAS or anything with transcoding you can let that handle the work and just leave the GPU out of your PC if you want. Or hunt down something like a 1630.
>>105598538Not just AV1, even non-accelerated VP9 can bog an older PC down. Especially a dual-core.
Had a friend who had a 970 and he swapped it out for a 750 after he quit gaming because it had the codecs for YouTube despite being an inferior card lmao.
This is my current setup. Yes it was an NZXT custom pre-built.
Ignoring potentially upgrading any other components, is there any worthwhile GPU I should consider upgrading to, assuming I only want to spend ~800 bucks at most (and then plan on selling my current GPU to make back some money for a net loss of like 400)
I currently just use a 4k OLED TV that's only 60hz so high FPS isn't a target but high resolution is
>>1055986559070xt can get you there if you buy at 700 and sell your 3080 10gb for 300
5070ti will increase your net cost to 450 or so since it's about 150 pricier

>>105598748AMD only goes up to 2S with epyc unless you look at their older opterons

I have a pre-built that has 3 8GB DDR4 sticks. However, two of them are 3200MHZ, and one is 3000MHZ.
I've heard that if the speeds are different and or the brands are different, that the RAM will run at its lowest power settings. Is this true?

Is there anything to note when making a white PC build? Does the material yellow over time like 90's PCs? Do you need to care for it in any way? (I have a white desk table and have to clean it weekly because it looks dirty quite fast)
>>105599273>Is there anything to note when making a white PC build? There is manufacture variance in the sort of white that varies product-to-product. You might be forced to source components from a single vendor to minimize this.

>>105599178I don't like X3D, Be Quiet, Asus
>>105599178Solid, I have similar brands, except for the SSD. 64GB is a meme for now, unless you do heavy rendering stuff. ASUS cards have been too noisy for me, I switched to Sapphire, no complaints here, but they don't make Nvidia cards.

>>105599315They aren't viable at all but still works if you have an older GPU like the rtx3090 or 2080ti. Not sure about AMD's mgpu support.
To minimise GPU bottlenecking, you'd need to find boards that support x8/x8 GPU lanes. But they are quite rare nowadays and only a handful of pricy boards like the strix -E, proart, or extreme OC boards like the apex that have this layout

The problem wit Lancools and Lancools clones is they max out airflow at the cost of filtration so in dusty enviorments you will get your PC covered in it very fast
>>105599720I've picked out two for you sir, you will choose between those two and then it's done. No more thinking about PSUs.
The first alternative is SeaSonic Focus GX V4 ATX 3 (2024) 850W and the other is MSI MPG A850G PCIE5. You can choose 750w or 1000w instead if that is what you need, but for future proofing (tm) I would suggest to go for 850w even if you don't need it today.
For Seasonic the Core line is the "lower" tier, it's perfectly fine but Focus is one small step up and give you a nicer faggier feeling than if you buy the Core. Vertex is over that and isn't needed for most people.
If you choose the MSI one do not get the A850GL, there are no small japanese people in that one.
>>105598573Get a 1030 GDDR5 or a cheap used 1650 or smth. Those can playback any modern codec, 4k video and multiple displays.
>>105599720Don't care about brands, just read the 12v amps spec sheet and always buy single rail over multi rail. 7900xtx spec sheet says you need a PSU with at least >65A on 12V so that narrows down the choices by a lot. PSUs of that spec are all 750w platinum or 850+w gold.
>>105599847Then just buy those? You are running a power hungry car of course you will need a bigger PSU. The guy recommended Seasonic because those tend to last lifetimes, and have the smallest tendency to just have random manufacturing defects.
>>105599863I am saying read the spec sheets and ignore brands. It's the same with graphics cards too. Memory bandwidth, vram, rops, and pixel fillrate are king in GPU-Z. You cant beat math and science the raw numbers. Buy and get what you pay for instead of buying on feeling and "what he said". This is computer building as in you understand how computers work not just how to assemble them like a construction worker monkey.
>>105599994Unfortunately not everyone has the time, effort or intelligence to research those thing you said. That's why independent reviewers are important, to tell normies what to and what not to buy. Furthermore, there are things (I'm saying quality control issues, false labels etc) that can only be uncovered by reviewers who have the means to buy large sample sizes and testing equipment.
This is also the reason why corporate shills are the bane of modern computing.
>>105599720Just buy what HWBusters recommends. That site is ran by the same guy who runs Cybenetics. They actually test the power supplies unlike 80 plus.
MSI's Mystic Light: why does this thing keep resetting the color animation cycle of whatever I set it to? I have set multiple components to Wave mode and to cycle between gold and no-light for a slower "breathing" animation. However whenever the CPU is processing ANYTHING it will frequently reset the cycle by going to the last shown color, it can happen several times in a row so it looks like it is slowly flickering. Should I just use another RGB control entirely? Mind, this doesn't affect the CPU temp mode, which I guess overrides this issue by always issuing the command for a specific temperature rather than interrupting the current animation cycle.
>>105600101Use signal or openrgb if you aren't using bleeding edge hardware
>>105600138It's bleeding edge hardware, definitely not because my CPU is choking or anything. It's almost as if Mystic Light is issuing a refresh command on the component constantly to apply new instructions for the color pattern. This happens even on a fresh restart; the colors are all loaded right but then they'll start flickering again on any kind of "load". Guess I'll have to look at those two other options if fiddling around with settings doesn't resolve this.
>>105598547lossless is more useful for emulation or to upscale old games to 4k. Often these games have issues with scaling, and glitch when running above 60 fps, which is where the scaling and framegen become useful.
Is there a fan hub that lets you control each fan individually instead of matching them all to the same signal ?

How bad are modern stock coolers? I'm thinking about a 7600 non-X, since it's only 65W TDP will stock be fine, or are stock coolers still loud as hell?
>>105601227>high refresh rate>144hz
>>105601358> I don't want nothing to get burned in. wat do?no OLEDS. Some shills will claim they fixed burn in and while they can be longer lasting now OLEDs use organic material which will degrade over time. Especially UI elements from your IDE or editor I can imagine would burn in easily.
IPS have decent colours, viewing angle and response times but shit contrast, backlight bleeding and IPS glow when displaying black.
VA have better contrast than IPS but worse viewing angle (this is why they tend to be curved) and response times. IPS glow isnt there a problem and backlight bleeding shouldn't be noticeable but they can suffer from ghosting.
Both IPS and VA have miniLED variants but I cant remember the downsides there. I faintly remember something about halo effect and blooming.
TNs are for competitive gaming cause of response times but if you want to watch bluerays stay away from them.
>>105601371small fan: lower airflow > need to spin faster > more noise
larger fan: higher airflow > can to spin slower > less noise
stock coolers might become more efficient at transferring heat from components, but in order to dissipate that heat they keep on using small fans, which are always going to be loud compared to 120/140 no matter what

>>105601548For coding and movies VA might be just right but it's really a matter of taste. My preferred choice is IPS cause I dont mind BLB and IPS glow that much and more expensive panels suffer less from it.

>>105602297I have a 5070ti. Nvidia locks the minimum fan speed to 30%. But it doesn't mean it's 30% rpm of your fans. It's actually a fixed rpm.
