Fedora did it for me. You need to find what you need your distro to do. Look into that.

Get a hobby for which you cannot afford to have non-working computer. Programming/Digital music creation/Writing and so on. At some point having a constantly broken OS will annoy you so much that you just stop. The distro really doesn't matter. My choice is Debian+Xfce, but it can be whatever, because it doesn't matter, it's about the fact that you cannot afford having a broken computer, because you want to do something useful on it.

i stayed so long on my archlinux install that when i wanted to update, i discovered that the whole repositories structure had changed and now i can't update anything anymore. it's like a ghost os that i avoid while using microsoft windows. a $400 ssd sitting in my desktop computer for nothing. i don't have the motivation to learn everything again to install a new distro. i am so fucked.
Anonymous No.105599011 >>105599022
when you side load apps you usually only get certain options. For me that was enough to just pick Fedora because almost everyone that gives a Linux option for their app will include an rpm package

Depending on what you're looking for, eg:

>muh just werk, don't care how. My interaction with the operating system is just superficial at best
Linux Mint lts/lmde, Pop!os lts, PCLinuxOS, Openmandriva rock, Fedora atomic (Silverlight, Kinoite, etc...).

>minimal configuration required, most of it has to work ootb and has to be rock solid but i need some leeway in choices
Debian/Devuan, Alma/Rocky linux, Slackware

>minimal configuration, less stable but with more cutting edge software
Fedora, Opensuse

>Advanced configuration, i still prioritize stability over cutting edge software
Gentoo, Void, Nix/Guix, Alpine

>Advanced configuration, i prioritize cutting edge software over inherent stability
Arch/Artix

Nigger fucking format the disk and install a fixed release distro, it's not rocket science nor requires you to relearn anything. Why the fuck you choose to install arch to begin with if you weren't interested in keeping updated a system that by design requires constant updates is beyond me to understand.

Arch is the way OP, if you're smart. It's not hard to set up, but there will be bugs. You don't have to be smart to fix the bugs but it certainly helps. What makes it worth it is the fantastic wiki (which could be used on a lot of distros so long as they aren't Debian or Slackware) and the AUR.
