What a shitty solution, I built and installed some nets on all my windows a year ago and since then I've enjoyed zero mosquitoes, zero flies, zero bugs inside my home.

I remember when I was a kid and the only type available was the one without the safety mesh.
Anonymous No.105607644
The early ones just had positive on one side and negative on the other.
They were the best. Then they added a third mesh in the middlw so it was like + - + so you were less likely to zap yourself.

What makes these different/better than normal fly swatters?

You kill them mid air instead of having to wait for them to land

Catch them when they are in flight, sometimes they explode in little bits from the shock

Oh that makes sense, I guess that should have been obvious from the start. How good are they for tiny flying bugs? I fucking hate living with people who take care of nasty ass plants because they're always bring them inside after all the insects in the world lay their eggs in just so they can hatch inside my home. I have shit always flying around and I can't tell where they're coming from.

Wasn't someone working on a legit laser that could hit air born bugs as fast as a fly with pin point accuracy?

Yes the US navy is developing lasers to shoot down Chinese aircraft.

Varies. Usually the mesh is too big for anything smaller than a mosquito. But they come in all shapes and sizes, some might have finer spacing.

No, those are useless against fruit flies and small black flies. Regular flies come back to life so you need to step on them after they get stunned. For flies I just use a salt gun with a laser and shoot them instead. Electric fly swatter is only useful for mosquitoes. For fruit flies just make a trap with a plastic cup with fruit waste, plastic wrap and cut straw.

Pretty good. Turn on the power and flail around until you hear a BZZZZZZZT.

is that what that is? my current one is just a single layer of parallel bars. surely if you're retarded enough to accidentally zap yourself with this thing, no safety mesh can help you

They're not really necessary in most of Europe. I leave the windows and patio door open all the time in summer and maybe get like one fly or moth every few months in the house.

You wrap the flywire around the white rods and jam the rods into the metal channels with the "pizza cutter"

i was thinking about some laser-targeted salt guns, pneumatic. some kind of CIWS, by doors and portals.

Mix vinegar with a drop of dish soap and a teaspoon of sugar and let that sit in a flat cup (surface should be close to rim). Irresistable to fruit flies.

I tried this shit multiple times. They seem to like my monitor(bright light) more than dish soup of death. So I'm still always having to deal with them. Whatever these things are they can't fly for beans either because they fly slow and wobbly has shit.

I've got a similar electric swatter, it's not great. The fly has to go into it to hit the inner wires, and a single zap usually only stuns them, if that. It's only a guaranteed kill if they get stuck and continue to crackle and fry.
I've had better luck with just a basic sturdy (that's the hard part to find) old school fly swatter.

Not all of them go for the light. I usually wait for them to get to my monitor so I can grab them or spray them but some refuse to go near. The sealed cup with plastic wrap and straw works best since it traps them. Just add fruit to the cup.
