Why does jewgle struggle so much into taking this bad boy down? Can't they just insert ads that are imposible to skip with scripts? It shouldn't be that hard.

>Why does jewgle struggle so much into taking this bad boy down?
It's a mouse and cat race. uBlock Origin contributors are used to do an efficient work and collaborate, making the most of the browser. But Google can only do so much against it, since they are the server and have no control over the browser.
>Can't they just insert ads that are imposible to skip with scripts?
These types of script would just be easily identified and blocked.

>It shouldn't be that hard.
Why don't you do it, present the solution to Google and gain some easy money?

It's trivial to serve ads that cannot be differentiated from a site's normal content. Especially true when the site's content itself is full of shilling.
The issue isn't getting the ads in front of user eyeballs, it's verification and making sure you're using the correct kaballic mind control algorithms on the correct users. Something like youtube really shouldn't be adblockable, but it's being hoisted by its own petard.

It's been known that they've been researching a way to include ads in the video stream, instead of the ad coming from it's own stream, so it's more difficult to block.

The problems with that are usually costs because they'd have to change a ton of stuff in how their services work, basically reworking their whole ad API, and even with that, there's some projects like sponsorblock who detect ad segments from Youtubers themselves, so in the end, all that work would probably not be worth it

Forcing Manifest V3 was probably the only thing they could do because at least limits extensions to a certain extent

I suspect that at least someone in YT is aware that unskippable ads will bring only net negative to them. People will not wait 30+ seconds to see minute long meme video and on top of that Google is HORRIBLE at blocking malicious ads. They bare their fangs and batk but going for the kill would be actually just a suicide for them.

I think their best bet would be to compromise and find a type of advertising that's tame enough to not make people care enough to skip it. Something like a 3-5 second static png at the beginning.

If anyone ever worked in enterprise they know how inefficient everything is and how people are slow at doing anything. Sometimes all the corpo-borbo bullshit is in such scale you waste weeks waiting for approval to make a 1 hour job. The other facet is that employed people often aren't actually good at their job. The independent developers are free from such bullshit so they can run circles around them and they have motivation for doing that, because the thing they are working on matters so it's not soul crushing bullshit job. And there is not much development needed at this point. They probably just need to look for changes in requests, analyze them and think of new block rules.

The only right way to support is supporting them directly with donations. That way they actually get the money you spent and not a trillion dollar company which shares a fraction of the money. In perfect world instead of youtube we would have p2p torrent like network when you can search for videos, have a rss feed for authors that will push you new files to download. The system would be self-sustainable. Author always seeds their videos, peers are free to seed, but can remove the video after watching. If no-one seeds there is still a master copy and authors themselves should backup their media themselves. The best part is you can have it in background and watch it offline in your favorite player. Comments to a video could work by posting to mailing list which would be automatically created for every author. There could also be aggregating feeds for various categories of videos and a mailing list for platform itself where you can suggest adding new categories and other changes. Everything should be open source. It would be truly a YOU Tube.

What shouldn't be hard is you and your dinosaur business practices fucking off back over to TV land, where you should have stayed, and leaving the internet alone.

Think of it like the Soviet-Afghan war, the Soviets (jewgle) are using severely outdated massed army movement tactics in a landscape where it just doesn't work, the Taliban can just move a small group in, lay down some mines, hit them with a few pot shots, then fuck off back into the mountains, by the time the Soviets can send an entire fucking mobilized platoon into position which includes trying to move fucking tanks up a mountain the Taliban is already long gone.

Outdated POV while ublock doesn't implement anything like this, it is entirely possible now to run content through analysis and not show it to the user, the only way to prevent that would be to have the ad be part of the content itself.

its not trivial, youd have to have some backdoor on the server that communicates the user requesting the ads details through it, then serves an ad in response. seems insecure and exploitable. when all you need to do now to serve ads is copy paste javascript codeblocks into your template files / static page.

if twitch were able to stop ublock from blocking ads, then youtube surely would be able to do the same, no? or is it much easier to do that on a live stream than it is videos?

well when i would watch twitch i could stream the feed to mpv, when ad breaks came on it would just show a static image until the ad break was over. thats preferable to using the browser and seeing ads if ublock doesnt work.
>then youtube surely would be able to do the
the difference could be as simple as you have more knowledgeable/invested people working on youtube and not devoting as much time to twitch.

Normies are literally conditioned into believing that ad blockers are a "virus". Most people that use youtube don't have ad blockers installed or know what they are.
