Maybe, marginally
Both are flooded with bots, grifters, and shills. Some tweets on X are outright lies regardless of political bent, and the website programs you to accept whatever deranged shit youโ€™re reading on your feed.
The jannie situation is much worse here, that much I will admit. But the real answer is to put the computer down and go outside. The internet sucks now. Just the way it is baby

You find people that make good posts and re-tweet good posts. You follow them. You never ever look at the algorithmic abomination that is the for you tag. You look at following. If someone is filling your feed up with crap you do not want to see you unfollow them. I used to have lots of followers and follow lots of people. I had a few tweets go viral. But I deleted my account, started over, and now enforce strict curation of my feed. When I open the app I see content that is valuable to me. I waste less time scrolling. When I'm done I come back here to call people mentally retarded pajeets. When I see people acting like that on Twitter I get secondhand embarrassment for them. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I like to keep 4chan on 4chan.

on 4chan you can easily read an entire thread with everything everyone has to say on that topic.
on twitter threads branch out in sub-threads that eventually end up in a shouting match between two fags.

its an issue with new post order. reddit has the same issue.
you cant go back into an old thread you read even though it has 10+ new posts and easily see every new post read, because of the hierarchy of replies and chains. you have to dig into other threads and etc. 4chan format and the classic message board format is superior. for long threads / keeping up with a big thread thats getting activity

Yeah, it always gets my goat trying to look at reply chains on other websites, and all the replies inherently branch off and are laid out in a way that's complete ass for anyone to actually discuss things together. Like that's all they are: replies, not a discussion. Then again, they don't even do that well, since it's way easier on 4chan to just hover over all the post numbers and quickly read what your replies are, rather than just scrolling down through them all.

1. twitter has an upvote/downvote system. more likes, more retweets = more engagement. When you are blocked or muted for whatever reason (leftists run massive block/mute lists) you are deboosted/shadow banned

2. it promotes lazy engagement (likes, retweet, emoji replies)

3. facefags are boosted by the algo who use it to sell products

4. twitter only becomes fun when you break into a community and get into group chats. public posting is only an audition. as a result, a lot of great content in hidden from the public eye

5. two tiers of user

it honestly sucks, but it's popular so a lot of good posters on there.

there's a system called tweepcred. it's basically pagerank across users based on their follow graph. there is an actual threshold of social credit score (tweepcred) where you can say faggot and not get censored. just like an RPG where when you get to a certain level you unlock new spells

too many people are trying to gain followers so everyone is saying what they think will get people to follow them. it's exacerbated by the fact that you get paid for more views. it's a design more prone to generating slop. on 4chan people just speak their mind for the most part.

I feel like I can't get the full twitter experience because I never get any engagement like I do here (no one ever replies to me there). How do I twitter successfully? Am I getting fucked by the algo, or something? Or should I just try to engage solely with people who have accounts my size?

I like 4chan, but complete anonymity has it's downsides. It feels like you're talking to an amorphous collective consciousness, not individuals. And because of that, you can't really make long term friends here. Visible post histories and accounts give users 'personalities' and reputation. I just want to meet consistent online friends that share my same niche interest, even better if it can translate to irl friendships. Any advice?

twitter is like an evolved rss feed site. So if you follow certain people's feeds, you get their content and the adjacent content. Everyone has hobbies/interest, so there are plenty of people doing the same thing showing off their work. For /g/ relevant content, you just follow all the AI devs/engineers/etc giving all the daily updates

i usually get replies but i use twitter differently. i search keywords, thats the only feed i ever look at. the search feed for various keywords im interested in. you're looking straight into the void that way. no front page popular posts feed. just "anons" posting into the void, and usually no one ever reacting or replying to them.
i reply to them. and sometimes we have discussions.
thats the only way to use twitter imo. the organic way.

I don't know of any other popular platform that can perform the same function, all-in-one microblogging, conversations about current events in real time, etc. I've been there roughly a decade now and you do run across genuinely interesting people and post. But the Musk takeover has been kind of a double edged sword imo. There's been a notable increase in algo slop and engagement farming, which I hate, but I guess it's better than accounts getting banned left and right by political partisans like we saw in 2017 and onward. You just gotta be kinda trigger happy with the mute and block button.

And as an aside, Musk has the cheesiest aesthetic judgements. "Twitter", "Tweets", the light blue color palate and bird were a branding hole in one. That was a horrible change too.
