No it's not, that's just copium. The real reason is Apple wanted to save money by using the same tooling for the top case as the wired version, and they wouldn't be able to do that if they put the charge port on the back.

I'm surprised nobody's made an adapter to move the charge port to the front of the mouse. I don't own one but apparently it still works while charging so the only thing preventing the adapter from existing is its inexistence.
