Is there any reason to increase my user class beyond what's needed? For example I'm like 75% of the way to TM on RED and I kind of want to make it there (or even higher) despite being in every tracker I want to, but I'm scared that the time spent on doing so will be wasted if RED ever shuts down.

This is probably what happened. My friend swear that he didn't buy an inv but got one from someone long ago, like 10+ years since his acc was older than mine.

He used to be quite poor back in the day so he wouldn't waste cash with buying an invite, so I kinda believe him. Somehow, somewhere, the invite tree was rotten and they decided to ban everyone.

The problem is the age of the accounts. If someone is in good standing for nearly a decade or more, why ban? You're just removing good people for the sake of justice against someone who might not even use their account anymore.

Disabling invites for the entire tree seems fair, at least you know that what happened there won't spread any further.

I'm /pure/ except for my first tracker which I used for everything else and it would really suck if the guy who invited me from IRC (who I'm no longer in contact with) a decade ago ended up breaking the rules and it came back to bite me.

If I were PT staff, I would just ban old accounts who got in way too easily and made almost no contribution (backed by some good reason though) to make room for new recruits who at least put some effort in their PT journey.

I had a person i berely knew offer me invite to PTP because they didn't want to have an invite just sitting there being wasted or whatever.

I tried to explain to them that their reasoning was bad and that people can simply join from RED the official way.

Later i heard from what i assume was the same person about how they got treebanned and had to go through a lengthy process to prove their innocence because they invited someone that didn't live in the same area.

There is always low tier sites like BHD and BTN to join if you cannot wait 2 years for PTP/HDB.

HDBots is the only tracker that doesn‘t allow SD content. BLU, BHD, ATH all allow SD if that‘s the highest available resolution.
The problem is that there are too many foreign movies that only release in SD. Even current year asian cinema (no, not indian bollywood trash) sometimes only gets released on DVD. HD only is for capeshitters. Imagine GGn not allowing games that aren‘t at least 720p. it‘s so fucking dumb. There is tons of peak cinema only in SD out there but HDBots don‘t care about movies, they care about pixels

I am buying WEB releases to upload and I plan to soon purchase physical media once I get a drive. I know how to convert, remux, encode etc (though my computer isn't that powerful). I am paying for a seedbox with 16TiB storage. I have a plan for the trackers I want to join with the fastest and least hopping possible. so what is the point of writing this is everything is going good? the thing is the seedbox server I have is not too good I am looking for a better seedbox, I need a lot of storage and my budget is about 80$/mo if anyone knows where I can get a DEDICATED, UNMANAGED server for not too expensive thank you

you can't compare ATH to BHD, they have been there longer and had time to get better. We only started fixing stuff 2 years ago and we are still trying to clean up our torrentdb. Yes Kitsune might be slower than FLUX or NTb, not a fair comparison when it's mostly just 1 or 2 doing all those uploads. We were very far behind BLU but we caught up and with time we can become better and improve.

I was only using BLU before tall the random stuff happened a few months ago. As a donor I wasn't happy with the drama even though the content was good. I moved to ATH and while I assume it is not even close to cabal I have been much happier with it. It has good up time and generally whatever I want to watch. I don't really get the hate on many of these trackers unless the staff is actually ruining the site like what was happening on BLU

I enjoy looking for music that isn't on RED and uploading it there. I actually care about lesser known music. Browsing through it looking for things that are actually good is something I consider to be a great use of my time. The only thing I don't like is checking the spectrals of every single track.

I manage many servers and they are all set up with this except for one so I almost never need to think about it. The only one that isn't set up with it has https running on a non standard port.
