Monitors
Are the latest monitors any good or are people wasting their money for stagnated tech? How far can I go back to have a decent display monitor in crisp resolution? No gaming monitors, mainly for coding, desktop space, etc.

New miniled monitors are promising. All the advantages of oled without the burn in.

to just see text on a screen? just get whatever man
personally id say to stick with 1080, or maybe 1440 if you can handle it without dpi scaling, as dpi scaling only rly works well on 2x for which you need 4k for which you need Big gpu and even then things will just inexplicably lag
refresh rate is more useful, feels nice
if you do UI or anything, try to ensure its at least a somewhat acceptable color quality and especially a proper gamma so your UI looks as you intend

>dev monitor
gay and retarded

only monitor that could be considered special use case for working people is a 3:2 one, and there's only one still on market. but, its like 600 bucks for a 4k and 60hz

>dev monitor
Useless without a dev keyboard, dev mouse and dev cables.

The main problem is that companies are too stubborn to switch to 4:3 monitors and gamers want wider screens

>no gaming
Get a 27″ 5K monitor and run it at 200% text zoom so it looks like a gigacrisp 1440p monitor

Well, they exist to make money. Obviously they're not going to sell ratios not in demand. The average person doesn't even think about aspect ratio, and probably has never heard of the term for monitors. I can't imagine how expensive a one off run of a 3:2 monitor is.

Companies that NEED uncommon aspect ratios simply order them custom built. Air traffic controllers, military, medical, etc.

I bought one for $300.
It's alright but I have never used the local dimming feature.

MSI G274QPX, visible vignetting when browsing web or using excel, while gaming not noticable.

I am sitting 60cm from the monitor and if I move further away this effect minimizes.

Do I have a faulty panel and should I RMA or am I just sitting to close?

these are still lcds, they just have a dimmable regions for the backlight, cannot match oled, but they are decent.

>gigacrisp
The only gigacrisp display I ever saw was an 96" 8K TV at Sam's Club.
