>>105627136 >if you want to make a feed, make an Atom feed
Well that'd defeat the purpose of running a website you can enjoy with software from the '90s

No. The link to them is just hidden now. The only reason I still use youtube is because I can follow channels I'm interested in through RSS feeds and pipe them into yt-dlp+mpv. There are several channels I follow that are basically shadow banned. Subscriptions randomly get removed and even when they're enabled most of the videos those channels upload don't show up in web browser feed. But the RSS feeds always work

it’s an XML file that’s just a list of site updates
A feed reader like https://netnewswire.com or https://feedbin.com will poll that file every so often and let you know when new things are available
The NNW site says feeds are “podcasts for reading”, and that nails it — podcasts are just RSS or Atom feeds with linked mp3 (or whatever) files in their entries

Not him but I've never understood dedicated RSS readers. Your mail client likely already supports it and you've always got it open anyways. I use Thunderbird

I use mutt as mail client that's why. I could use emacs for RSS feeds (and email) but I try to keep it limited to the main reason I have it installed: creative writing and coding. I learned my lesson about using it for everything when I spent those years using EXWM.
