i need a desktop spectrum analyzer.
is there a decent one good enough for hobby use so i don't have to give my money to the rigoljew?
I started to buy and play with Beyblades. I got a few original ones and spent probably about 50€. But I checked for fakes ones and reviews and they seem to be pretty hit or miss but good overall. The bad parts are usually the bit (the lower part) and the ratchet (the middle part). The top one is usually 100% identical physically, but it shines more and usually contains lead. There are a few brands, Flame, SB and MQ are the most famous, SB don't use lead, iirc, and the others do. SB and MQ usually have the correct parts.
I'm waiting for a few chink stadiums to play on, though it seems they will come broken since they are thin plastic (the official ones are as well, but come in a sturdy cardboard box).
If you have recently joined this autistic hobby, share some stuff you found (there are official stuff as well).

And as others pointed out, if you don't know about this, you either were born not long ago, or it somehow went over your radar, though I won't blame you, since like I said, I recently got into it (again).
When I was a kid, I watched the show and got some chink copies from the local Chinese store. It was fun, but nobody had a stadium, maybe a big bowl or whatever.
Right now a stadium is mandatory, mainly because it enhances the game by a lot. You get some rails around the stadium and with the bits and their tooth, they get a speed boost making them kick the others out of the stadium.
This new Gen came in 2023 and it's been going strong. It's so much fun to play, and with how inexpensive the fakes are, you can have ton of fun with friends on a weekend. Just have one or two stadiums and a bag full of different parts, mix and match a few combos and try to be the king of the hill.
Pic related is the stadium, and two other non tranny beys. Just watch a few videos of manchildren playing with these, they are fun.

>>105631165It was my mistake when I wanted to set up Pi-Hole in my network. Got a Pi Zero and did some configs to make it run off of the USB port of my router. It was a nightmare, barely any computing power, I couldn't use the same USB port for emergency LTE, and when I had to reinstall it was barely possible to do so. At some point I got fed up, set up Proxmox on a spare PC and later migrated it to a Dell mini PC with a Core i5. Got a few extra self-hosted things on it as well and I can easily expand it, or add a NVMe drive, or an external one via USB, and it has all the computing power I'd need for those applications. Plus, having it as a regular part of my network instead of the USB clusterfuck it used to be makes everything so comfy and simple.
I don't know why SBC's like OrangePi are still people's go-to for such projects. Just get an x86 box that has all the flexibility and support for those types of applications. Pi derivatives only make sense if you want to do some GPIO Arduino-esque stuff.
>>105629380You're right about the top left. The top right is the seconds/stopwatch. Bottom right is the date and time, You can change between 12 and 24 hour and by pressing the upper right hand button, you can view the date. ALM and STW stand for alarm and stopwatch respectively. No idea what DUT is. And yeah, I always felt like it looked like a microphone as well. There's also a built in backlight. Overall it was a great purchase.
>>105631719The only reason to get SBC these days is GPIO. I think a lot of people just get them because of inertia -- RPi was a big deal up until 3, I would say. Now when x86 caught up in power consumption, it had very little reason to exist in hobby projects that just need a server.

Any anons with experience buying PC parts from AliExpress? I tend to stay away from electronics but found a really good deal on a CPU. Attack Shark R1 sucked. It's not a bad mouse technically, but its shape wasn't compatible with my hand and grip at all. Too low, too narrow, too short. And the scroll wheel was set in too deep.
Ajazz AJ179 V2 was great, tall, asymmetrical, comfy. Once I had a cursor jump half the screen for some reason, but it never happened before or since.
VXE R1 looked like an Attack Shark at first, being smaller and flatter, but surprisingly comfortable for me. For some reason it has concave buttons, at first it felt really weird, but now I've got used to it and it works.
All of them have the same sensor -- 3311; all three are tri-mode (2.4GHz, USB, BT), no RGB, no software, pretty nice cable included with every one. Attack Shark also had tribal stickers included, which I assume supposed to be a grip tape, but I'm not a big competitive gamer so didn't bother.
Over all I can recommend all of them, despite not liking Attack Shark -- it was purely because of the shape, and not any objective issue.

Does anyone have experience or feedback with this kind of bicycle pump?
Traditional basic pumps, both hand and feet operated are garbage. But at this point I only need one that works and doesn't fell apart.
Locally only a single classic type of german feet pump is available. The original I bought was defective right out of the bat, then the replacement started leaking air after minor use and now it's completely useless with no way for me to fix. It was janky as fuck deformed too.
Made in Germany my ass! And they had the gall to sell that trash as a car tire pump as well! I'm ready to put my trust into explosive chinaman engineering.

My Decathlon track pump, not their cheapest one, 500 series; that I bought for 25 Euro three years ago inflated hundred of tires at least. And it works exactly the same as the day I bought it. Even more, if the head goes out -- and it might, there's a rubber ring inside that gets poked by a valve -- I can swing by another decathlon and buy a new one for basically nothing.
I don't know what kind of "German pump" you've got, but I would fully trust Decathlon, SKS, SIlca (if you're a Mr. Moneybags), Unior or Park Tool. Now this chink crap is almost guaranteed to be garbage. Maybe Rockbros or West Biking one would survive for some time, but not this noname landfill.

Unfortunately, due to an annoying health condition I cant bend down and do more than 3 pumps before dying, so hand-cranked pumps are not an option, unless I can operate it entirely by holding it in my hands.
I generally dislike hand pumps as well, since they take up too much space. The pumps you mentioned are also actually pretty expensive (above 25$), especially considering I'd have to ship them anyways. Might as well roll the dice and order one from China. They honestly look very good and even the more expensive types are incredibly price competitive.
By traditional german pumps I mean these bog standard ones with zero fluff on the left. The only alternative is the one on the right, with an absolutely tiny air capacity. There are like 6 bicycle shops in my tiny bumfuck town, all selling this shitty grey crap on the right, with only the big box store having a foot operated one similar to the left.
Supposedly the grey one is domestically manufactured, but it's a godawful design from the 50's or some shit.

Does any anon here have one of these novelty handcrank radios?
Do they work? I'm not expecting much in terms of reception quality, but am wondering if the crank will just break or the charge you can build up by cranking is so miniscule it's basically not worth it, in which case I might just get a radio that's not cranked/solar powered. There's ones that can do FM/AM and SW (which this one can't) for half the price if you just don't care about that crank.
I'd mostly use it to larp so I can go hiking without my phone but still catch those scheduled weather forecasts.
>>105642185Sure they are not cheap but they are godsend in some shitholes that ban people from buying leaded solder locally
>>105638411My nv7000t from Netac Official Store just shipped. The 25% rakuten rebate got logged too.
>>105632185Apple one is good and cheap but too fragile so I added a layer of heat shrink tube to it
It's been great to me for hooking PC to my power amp
For portable option E1DA 9038S3 is just too good and I have been using it for 5 years but it is not cheap
>>105642032>>105642165>>105642499(nta) my back-up solder spool from a decade ago. 60/40 tin-lead, the same type i used in electrical engineering class. i'm used to it and the quality and experience is consistent with whatever "brand".
you just have to be careful not to breathe it in or get it on yourself. once you use the stuff and read up about it, lead stops being the chinkshit boogeyman that the tinfoil hats here freak out about
>>105642705thats a very neat fix actually
would a heat shrink tube also hold well on fragile headphone cables, for example, or does it need the wider parts on both sides to stay in place?
>>105643221NTA, but one side is enough, but it does need something to grip onto. Remember that heatshrink doesn't shrink indefinitely, it just contracts a lot under heat, so it'll likely not become perfectly tight on the cable if it's also put over the port. That should still be enough to hold it in place though, and if we're talking 3.5mm jack the port is marginally thicker than the cable, so in that case it should grip decently.
>>105643302thanks, thats exactly what i had in mind
>>105643221It will work as long as you can fit your connectors into the tube. A good quality heat shrink tube with adhesive will have an excellent shrinking ratio, like 3:1, for example, so you will have to measure your connectors and your cables before placing an order for the tube, because it need to be a little bit larger than your connectors
>>105643302Actually, now there are some tubes with adhesive inside them, so it will grip. This is my first try doing it, resulting in using too much heat, and also trying to move it while it's hot causes some adhesive to reveal itself a little

>>105625584 (OP)got a question, is there anything that surpasses space travels for about the same money?
I have a set of them, mostly looking to see if there is anything better as these are what 1 year old with the design is close to 2 and iems seem to rapidly get better. I use better iems when I actually care about the sound, but but when I just want convince I use space travels so its not like im willing to dump actual money into an upgrade, just a small amount of 'fuck it' money if something is genuinely better by a good margin.
>>105642291I got one for free when a guy I knew got sent like 10 in one of those review "scams".
It's alright but I would not pay for it. Cranking creates interference and is louder than the radio, so if it's out of charge you gotta crank for a while before you can listen. And as a radio its sounds kinda like shit. It's fun to find AM stations from other countries at night though.
I'd just get a regular one. Or a more fancy cranked one. The prepper larp vibe they have IS pretty cool…
>>105644182Thanks for the response anon. I know they are loud but doesn't a radio take like a miniscule amount of power? Figured a minute of crankin' da hog would give you like 10+ minutes of listening or something.
Ideally I'd want one that can take rechargeable AA batteries, but I'm also not willing to pay too much and a lot of these start adding insane features I don't need, which is annoying because for hiking I don't want too much weight.
I'll look for another one, thanks.
>>105644212Nah, in my experience, when it's totally flat you need to crank a lot before it gets enough charge to play at a normal volume for a while. Maybe like a 1:2 crank to play ratio. Might have just been because it was totally flat.
Also, the battery lasts ages, like months. I assume it's the same for the crankless ones. So it's kinda a question of if you want to crank for an hour every 3 months or plug it in for an hour.
So yeah, just get a regular one.

Got a pair of Space Travels myself, and from what I've seen there's not only no upgrades for the same price, you aren't getting anything considerably better in $100-150 range. The next real upgrade -- and even then in features and ANC quality (which, let's be honest, is absolute dogshit on Space Travels, so it's not a high bar to clear) -- is Sony wf-1000xm5 or xm4 if you can find them.

>>105646517As I said, "for such projects". As in, homelab servers that don't need those interfaces, that prefer x86's more power hungry but performant cores over ARM's power efficient but underpowered cores, not to mention the software compatibility where you'll have a hard time with ARM based CPU's. No point in buying Pi derivatives if you want to set up a NAS, Proxmox, emulator box or any of those projects people still see ARM SBC's as the go-to for.

>>105650022Yeah I'd use it in my backpack when hiking and use it as I said for weather forecasts. Knowing that it can charge other stuff is also convenient - for the larp. A phone maybe not (or at least you'd spend an entire evening crankin' it) but my headlamp for example.
The hikes I go on are basically a week or less, so really not enough to actually need something like this.
For now I got picrel, because it also receives SW, though I think I fucked up because I realized after ordering that it doesn't take AA batteries but instead runs on a rechargeable batterypack.
Ah well I'll give it a try and see if I even use it, then if I do get a more expensive better one.
Thanks anon.
>>105650099Personally, I'd consider it way too heavy and I simply use my mobile phone for weather forecasts during hikes. But I normally sleep in huts where I can charge it, or I just put it in airplane mode for most of the day.
>>105650261Yeah it makes no rational sense - hence why I said it was for larping. I usually take my phone and a powerbank - that's more than enough for a week. Then I use my phone to take pictures, for navigation and weather forecasts. My hikes are usually in the wilderness, so no power sources or huts, just tent sleeping innawoods, but if you pay some attention to limit phone use it still lasts a long time before needing to be charged.
It's just that there's some charm to using a physical map, physical navigation and a radio for weather.
>>105650291A physical map as a backup is definitely useful.
>>105650291>for navigationI bought an old hiking Garmin and set of maps for it for LARPing reasons, but it turned out that having a single-purpose device with a great battery life and easily replaceable AA batteries is a great thing to have. I don't care if I drop it (neither does the device), I don't drain the phone battery that I might need later, and it looks cool fixed to my backpack strap.
The only downside is that I've got the last model before they moved to the high sensitivity antennae, so it takes a bit to pick up a signal at the start.
>>105650362>A physical map as a backup is definitely useful. You absolutely don't go on any reasonably long and far hike without a laminated map, unless you know the trek by heart. But at that point you don't need any navigation anyway.
>>105650380That looks cool, I really enjoy using a physical map though, it's a skill you have to learn for sure, but also very rewarding.

>small nightlight, for when i want a less powerful, warm light during nighttime rather than my main light (maybe theres a way to adjust the brightness with my lightswitch but i am no electrician even if i kno some basics

What's the current fotm gaming mouse on AliEx?
Last time I was looking for gaming mice, it was the MAD R Major or something like that
I'm late to the fidget/autism-calming meme but for a few dollars each, I'm willing to self-diagnose with them
>>105657005ones likes the mad r are frankly overkill placebo tier. if you don't mind paying then by all means. most are satisfied by mice 50% the cost, vxe r1, attack shark x3 / x6, etc.

So the particular model of walkie talkie you need differs by country.
USA? Something that does GMRS.
UK? Something that does PMR446.
Well known names:
- Baofeng
- Woxunun

>>105660541Australia. I can't use a Baofeng as a walkie talkie even with a license (easy to get) that the Baofeng is fully compliant with on amateur bands because it doesn't have a tick mark on the back (this isn't a joke)

Also, in Aus, I can legally carry a knife for my intent, unless I've ever thought about like "hey this would also be good for self defence just in case", like even if nothing happens, 2 people, same place, same knife, legal vs illegal, differnet thoughts. Literal thought crime.
If you carry a small knife to uni for slicing fruit out of your lunch box = legal. But its ONLY legal if you absolutely make sure that in the event you are attacked by a criminal that there is no possiblity of getting the knife out of self-defence. If you do not cede the advantage to the criminal attacking, you become the criminal. The law requires you to not be prepared for self-defence. Being prepared for self-defence = criminal.
>>105660662>The law requires you to not be prepared for self-defence. Being prepared for self-defence = criminal.that's the most stupidest thing I've had read this week lmao.
>>105660693Its true, it is dystopian circular reasoning.
You can only defend yourself if you were not planning to defend yourself. You must be pyschologically unprepared and unarmed. Personal preparedness is seen as a challenge to the monopoly the state has on force. The state promises to protect you but it cannot guarantee your protection in real time. But it criminalises you if you prepare to protect yourself in the case of an emergency.
You are allowed to survive but only if you do it without the means to do so. Allowing individuals to carry tools of defence is seen as arming the public and that unders the image of and authority of the state as the sole protector.
Your assailant can exploit this, knowing youre legally disarmed and the state accepts this risk as the price for maintainig a monopoly over legitimate force. The moment you take 1 iota of responsibility for your own safety the system views you as a danger cross into independence.
The alleged intent is to prevent violence, so carrying even for the partial intent of self-defence is always illegal. Always. Even if someone pulls out a knife, it is proven they saved their life, and the attacker scampered off with no damage done, this is criminal behavior. Its literally a thought crime because its the same thing (knife) in the same location, stored the same way, just 2 different intents, even if neither uses it.
What is really happening is the intent to be prepared for crime is criminalised. Australia criminalises the intention of self-defence, regardless of whether any violence occurs.
>>105660777>>105660693A criminal who intends to harm someone is considered potentiality, not a certainity until they act. But you who intend only to prevent harm to yourself, are considered a danger the moment you prepare.
Only criminals carry weapons (unless its cutting fruit, hiking, etc), if you carry one you must be a criminal. We dont allow law-abiding people to carry weapons because carrying one means you're not law abiding.
This pre-loads guilt into the intent of self-defence. It's pre-pre-crime.
Also we tax unrealised capital gains here.
>>105660777>Your assailant can exploit this, knowing youre legally disarmedexactly. it such disservice to own citizens. I knew AU is cucked but holy shit. Dystopia.
>>105660824The problem is how extremely circular it is like "we can't allow this because only criminals want this. As we define anyone who wants this as a criminal"
>>105660841Right, you should have a right to bear arms and stand your ground laws. That would get those homicide rates down to the level of...
>>105660917>oh but muh numbers on a spreadsheetMy personal safety is more important than niggers shooting each other
>>105660917>discussion about knives and general idea of being allowed to even think about defending yourself with anything being illegal>MUH GUNS
>>105661075Australia is doing better than most of the world. More knives = less safety.
>>105661251Dead wrong. We have knives. We are allowed to carry knives. Thinking about protecting yourself is not allowed (not limited to knives). That's the distinction. 2 people, same knife, same location, neither used it, only 1 of them is a criminal.
Switzerland is doing better than most countries. Switzerland has a lot of guns. More guns = more safety.
>>105661318Switzerland has a lack of melanin. The more melanin a country has, the less safe it is.
>>105660917Mexico is a much closer neighbour to the U.S. The U.S. has 10x the gun ownership rate than Mexico. Mexico has 10x the firearm homicide rate according to your graph (safety is all murders not just firearm btw). More guns = more safety. 10x more guns, 10x more safety.

I don't really need a new cooler, and I shouldn't be wasting money right now, but... fuck it, we ball. Basically ~$21 less than what it costs locally right now. FOMO is the name of the game, and at the very least I'll have a bombastic air cooler for any future platform upgrades.
>>105659410An airbrush is a serious investment of money, time, and effort. It needs significant infrastructure to use effectively (good compressor, ultrasonic cleaner, cleaning mix, special paints, mixing bottles, etc.) some of which is difficult to cut costs on. Saving a few bucks on the airbrush itself isn't going to make a huge difference and could cause a lot of headaches.
If you don't want to spend a lot of money, I would recommend not bothering with an airbrush and instead just spending the time you would use learning airbrush skills on getting good with drybrushing and sponging instead.
