They increasingly censor games, they censor mods. They've changed positions on mods and keep shutting down mods based on their own games. Their games have more cheaters than other games in their genre to the point they're largely unplayable in a competitive sense without using third party clients. I don't really think thats true though, while I obviously use Steam because theres no avoiding it, I also use Epic (mostly for free games) and GOG and they're both literally fine for launching games, I've had no issues. People justify Steam by saying it offers things like "controller setup" but I've had more issues with Steam hijacking my controller for desktop use when trying to play non-steam games than I've benefit from it "just working", my controllers already just work, it's 2025. What else do people use Steam for?

There are games censored on Steam that are not censored on the Nintendo Switch, they are not required to do this but do it through choice.

Big Picture, Remote Play (that actually works without nvidia's slop), etc etc. And despite having maybe 10% of Steam's functionality at best the competing clients managed to be just as bloated with a vastly inferior UX and customer support.
It's not impossible to make a viable competitor, the industry just doesn't care. I got a few free months of that Ubisoft Connect crap and I felt genuinely insulted by how fucking terrible it was.
The big one though is that Steam has full and working Linux support. This alone is massive.

I used to think it was Apple, but after the Switch 2 fiasco, the Nintendrones have revealed their true cultist power.

There's a distinction that a lot of people make between the game developers and the business people at Nintendo. General consensus I've seen is that the developers are class acts and innovative while the suits are the some of worst on the planet. You can track the exact moment when Miyamoto went from developer to suit when he pushed the "new" series so many times in a row.
The only people incapable of making that distinction that I've seen so far are Sony cultists.
That being said apple is by far the worse company of the two. Last time I checked Nintendo isn't the reason phones don't have expandable storage or audio jacks anymore.
