Why did everyone lose interest in new tech? It seems other than AI, every other hyped up tech product got buried. Like VR and self-driving cars are just not talked about anymore.

because AI gets you every other tech for free, it's pretty pointless to waste time spending human intelligence on things other than producing far superior intelligence

Because a lot of tech that you learn about is either a nothingburger (self-driving cars, hyperloop, juicero) or sabotaged by corporate interests (VR).
AI is currently being overinflated by several interest groups that have a benefit in making it seem bigger than it is, including TSMC resellers (NVidia), IP lobbyists, real-estate agents and stock market speculators.

AI is just a low-IQ Chinese room with time dilation, it's not intelligence.

>Why did everyone lose interest in new tech?
Because nothing new has been released in the last 15-20 years.
>AI
Same shit we had in the 80s. They just figured out how to make it SaaS.
>VR
Same shit we had in the 90s. No one is interested because no one wants to wear headset for longer than 10 minutes
>self driving cars
No one wants to trust their life to the botnet. Doesn't work when people are manually driving. Which is never going to stop. Government isn't interested in it either because then they could no longer rape people yearly for tags+registration+fees+taxes+gasoline tax+seat belt tickets+misc. moving violations+parking tickets etc.

I have had ZERO reasons to build a new PC since about 2010. If the web wasn't a bloated piece of shit I'd have little reason to build one since about 2001. Games don't matter anymore either since the graphics today look like the same shit they were releasing for Xbox 360. Normalfags are easily impressed but anyone with eyes can see it's the same warmed over recycled shit they've been selling us since 2009. New TV? Don't need it since HDR is a gimmick and they're producing nothing mastered in it worth a fuck anyway. It's 3DTV all over again which was only useful for the cheap high refresh rate televisions (why I snagged one for $300). New TVs are garbage ad shilling slow pieces of shit that don't even have VGA ports or buttons. Music? My 20+ year old headphones still work and are still considered "top of the line" and so are my studio monitors, amps, and everything else.

There has been nothing new and exciting released since I was a teenager.

What impresses me the most is that TVs now take up to a minute to start up.
My old LCD turns on almost instantly, my even older CRT would turn on instantly.
But now a meme smart TV takes almost a minute to start up and it's also slow switching channels and menus.

I'm only interested in old tech now. Making my own 16 bit computer.
