This. I find that these make good laptop mice, it's not too expensive and a good compromise between small/portable but not too small to be uncomfortable. And unless they changed things since my last one that worked for a good 9 years or so, they're pretty durable too.

Coincidentally, I'm using a trackpad right now while lying in bed and it's very comfy.
Of course I'm not using it for gaming or anything else that requires precise move movement, but browsing 4chan and YouTube? totally fine.
I suggest you just buy an actual mouse and use that with your notebook, OP. No one is forcing you to use a trackpad.

You can use it for pinch zooming which is very convenient when viewing images online.

I don't know how you could achieve that using a mouse. Ctrl + and - often mess up the webpage format and is not as flexible.

The only times I've used this functionality in my laptops was when it was triggered by mistake without me ever doing the gesture.
Plus, you're using a mac, this operating system has quite literally the worst touchpad basic gestures I've ever used, no middle click and the fucking tap to drag is hidden behind some accesibility toggle, like dude, those are quite literally the most important things a touchpad has to do along scrolling and right and left clicks.
